my 8700c OEM plastic holster rocks, i love it! I only use a slicone case when i take it to the gym to keep sweat out of it!

Anyhoo...

Just get used to it for a few days! Thats my advice. Get used to the os and menus and stuff and familairize yourself with them. THEN look into updating your os to telstra, getting the zen theme, and all the third party apps.

No rush!

You will have a much better understanding of how to update your software once you have a basic understanding of what you have already!

oh...and have fun!

Default My favs

Here my list of software: (all free, except CryptMagic)

-Google Talk (talk in real time to friends)

-Google Maps (just so cool and directions rock!)

-Berry 411 (wow, faster to find info than a pc and google)

-Blackberry Messenger (just because)

-CryptMagic (I wanted to enter the info using my pc)

-Berry Bloglines (sync with bloglines and no storage space is use to keep my RSS up to date.)

-Browser Channels (This is built in, but I love the way the Weather channel is automatically pushed to my device each day.)

Anyway, hope this list helps, I am a bb newbee too.

Cheers.

^^This is exactly what im talking about^^

Wait until you actually recieve your BB, and spend some time with it.

READ the forums for a few days. Not just the 8700c forum. READ the applications forums...ringtones..themes..all that.

THEN ask some questions!

Youll find a much friendlier crowd and alot of new friends =)

YMMV. I only use the OEM leather holster because I prefer the way it looks. otherwise I'd use the OEM plastic holster (never had problems whether it was with the 8700c, 7290, 7230 or 6230).

Definitely download the latest Desktop Manager if you need it. Most other apps are easiest to load OTA.

Google Local/Maps is definitely a must along with Berry411!

You might want to learn some shortcuts. See my tips doc, and learn about BIS if you aren't on BES. BIS 2.0 has people that like it and those that don't.

Glad I searched

I'm upgrading from a 7100g, which I just updated a month ago (phone OS, DTM too?). Do I still need to upgrade to the DTM that came w/ my 8700c, or should I go online and get the latest instead?

I can't tell the ver of my current DTM as I'm offline from my office and it wouldn't launch since it couldn't get to my mail server (BES).
