Default The Pearl Phantom

Please Login to Remove!

Just for shits and giggles i loaded up the Phantom Theme on my pearl. I have a few questions i am not sure people can answer...

First off if your going to load this skin, you need to do an alt lglg and clear your logs... while your there you could disable them as well.

#2 clear out your phone logs as mentioned in other threads.....

Pros-
-Super cool design like the pearl.
-Nice menu poppup with smaller icons and text
-Mostly black theme (sweet)
-Background goes red when you have a message.
-No carrier tag (good and bad)
-Your background blends into the y in the middle... very cool.
-Cooler looking call screens and phone graphics.

Cons-
- No idea as to what signal you have.
- No idea what sound profile you are in.
- Text is cut off on main screen with messages, and calender
- No message count on the main screen
- Sometimes slows the pearl down..

The Questions----

1. Anyone know why the background is animated? why it goes from grey to red on the outer lines of the y shape? what does that signify?

2. Is there a visual way to see what sound profile you are in on the main screen?

3. There are grooves on the top for charging, signal... and a few spaces for other things.... what goes there?

4. Does this theme work with myfaves?

My background-----

I do not have myfaves nor do i use the calendar, i am also bes user.

It is a very cool skin, i would say 60% functional.

question # 5, why does this theme suck on the pearl? Or in other words, why does it take 5 seconds to go from menu to menu

The animated background (when it changes to the red color) means that you have a message of some sort.

As for why it lags. I dont know. Its a DOG for sure. I removed it because of the horrible lag. It still lags even after you clear your logs.

It really too bad. It is a cool theme!

To clarify: The background goes solid red when you have recived a call, e-mail, SMS, etc. The borders of the background area are the batttery meter (left border) and signal strength indicator ( right border). The red tone starts at the top and works down the length ofthe border-the more red, the closer your battery is to being out, or the lower the RF, respectively.

Sounds like a cool theme. However, cool doesn't outweigh performance.

like i said in my first post...

if you are not logging, and you clear your logs... reboot your phone... the device does not lag.

I have .64... the only time there is a lag is when you first go into messages.... once you go into it once... there is no lag.

I find that the menus, and options area of the bb are much faster with this skin. I am glad i have a battery and signal meter now...

the question still remains... how to see the profile you are on.

myFaves does work, however, you have to go to menu and then select 'myFaves'. Then you'll get the 'circle of 5', if you will. There is no way to have it show up on the home screen.

As Krad said, if you delete the logs and disable the logs, everything is fine. I have no lag at all.

Go into your log. Then press menu/options. Go down to filter settings. Press menu/hide all types.

same reason your windows computer has logging.... if there is something wrong you could see what it is or send to developer or rim....

not needed really if you are consumer....

Okay, so I did it, and I loaded phantom, and sure enough its still lagging. the one thing I haven't done is load the new OS .64 on it, so, I'll do that tonight and touch base, if you guys think that will fix the lag issue. But yes, it lags when you esentially enter or leave every other menu over and over.

The .67 release is supposed to speed up the device significantly so this theme may very well become usable again. Here's hoping. I'm going to try and see how it goes.

Works just fine with logging off.

Phantom is indeed a cool looking theme and really complements the cool look of the Pearl..

Well, the .67 upgrade was a 'tad rough - but now that I am done, and made sure that logs were cleared and disabled...

It's still slow - I think it's just a poorly designed theme.

i can confirm that with os .67 the theme is unusable.... it is however usable in .64..... i am going to delete it and reload it and see if that helps.

Ok if you delete the theme and reboot the phone..... And then re-install it there is no lag anymore. there is an hour glass symbol for quarter of a second on the message and telephone exiting.. but everything else is lighting fast. same as before.
