Default Bypass MDS Question

Please Login to Remove!

What is the advantage of choosing Network Settings in programs that are not MDS. For instance, in Pocket Express, I can choose the Network Setting of IPPP for BIBS (BIS) or IPP for 5 Click (BIS). In Ramble, I can choose User Device TCP. in BBWeather, I can choose Disable MDS Proxy.

If I choose these settings, does that just bypass the BES Server and use my cell phone providers internet?

I have tried searching through the forums and could not really find an easy answer to this. Thanks.

Does anyone know? I kind understand the MDS goes through the BES Server. So does this mean that if I chose Network options that are not MDS or disable MDS proxy, they will bypass the BES server and go through my service provider instead?

Default Wish someone would reply

This area of BES administration seems foreign to the techs I've spoken with at RIM and my service provider. No one seems to know how to choose a default browser (or which one) and make it work. My service provider wasn't even sure of the confirguration UID of their browser, so when trying to set it as the default, I don't even know if it's the correct one!

The Configuration UID IT policy is just a "Suggestion" if the browser has been used before it will be ignored.

Oh serious..?!
Rim need to change their documentation then..:

As seen in the "Blackberry Wireless Handheld Browser Content developer Guide"
"Corporate Sys admins can set an IT policy on the blackberry Server to specify the default browser that is used for URLS in applications other than the browser, such as in email messages or memos.

And i can see: "Type a unique identifier (UID) for the browser config service record, which sets the default browser on blackberry device." in device only items policy help

Called Rim and they said to check in service books, open the blackberry internet service and check the UID is there.. i set it in policy but no changes..
So i guess you're right and RIM are wrong..
