Question Bluetooth Address Book Transfer

Please Login to Remove!

My husband and I both just got Pearls and I want to transfer my address book to his phone via bluetooth...but I can't seem to figure it out.

Bluetooth is on, discoverable and trusted for both our phones.

I am paired with his device, but don't know where to go to find the option to transfer my entire phone book to his phone.

I've looked everywhere and tried on both phones.

Can anyone help me out?

For that matter, can I send him other stuff bluetooth?

I use to have a Treo and I have to admit that the bluetooth was a lot easier to navigate on it.

To my knowledge it is not possible to transfer from Pearl to Pearl via Bluetooth, same goes for all BB's actually.

That's odd.
You would think they'd allow their own products to communicate with each other. In fact I'd think it would be easier to program them to communicate with their own devices than a PC.

Guess I'll just let him grab my contacts off the sim.

Thanks for the info.

So, why is there an option under Bluetooth to "Enable address book transfer"?

I've not tried it but the address book transfer option is in the BT device options. it's where your list of paired devices is. Highlight the device you want to transfer to and you may or may not see the address book transfer option. I don't believe the option will come up for other Pearls, though, just like Paulbblc stated. I can get an option to send to other phones and BT devices but not another BB.

I dont think it works that way with Outlook. My computer is one device listed (as well as other Pearls) that I don't get the address book transfer option for. I think it's for BT hands free devices such as cars, etc. but I've not used that feature.

I think you're right on the BT hands free devices (cars, etc.) however I am able to synch my address book with Outlook when I synch wirelessly.

Indeed, but that is separate from the Bluetooth Address Book Transfer that the OP is referring to. You are able to sync your address book via bluetooth as part of the PIM sync process, you're just using Bluetooth instead of USB. You can sync your calendar, memo pad and tasks via Bluetooth with the Desktop Manager as well.
