Default Pulse - Tethering Your 8700 to Your Mac Using Bluetooth

Please Login to Remove!

Alright, so there's this program called "Pulse" that says it can tether your Blackberry 8700 to your Mac using Bluetooth. So now no wires and you don't have to use parallels to get on the net. Only problem? The company says this:
Pulse Gateway Server

Notes
Pulse requires a proxy server to work. You can set up your own private Pulse Gateway on any compatible Linux or Mac computer at home or work with dedicated broadband internet access.

Alternatively you can subscribe to Austin Web Development's reasonably priced dedicated gateway service.

What the heck. Why do I need a network to connect to the Blackberry? If I have a network already, then I wouldn't need to connect to the blackberry. That makes no sense. Unless I am reading this wrong. So what exactly do I have to do to make pulse work with my Mac and my Blackberry 8700? If I have to already have a network active on my Mac, then there is no reason to buy this program.

Default Proxy Gateway

Pulse requires a proxy gateway...

In my opinion the only reason for this is for client control and authentication. So in order for Pulse to work you have to subscribe to a proxy service or install your own on a computer that is always connected and has outside IP access.

Look here (Brain Murmurs dot com, creators) for more in-depth information and how-tos.

That's silly, so to put it in a nutshell, you already need a network to use pulse to tether with your blackberry. Then why do it? Tethering with parallels with Windows is completely understandable, no internet whatsoever, connect your Blackbery and you got it. Then again, with Pule and Mac? You have to have the internet to use the Blackberry Internet?

Can you use the pulse product to tether your Blackberry with a PC or is this MAC only?

If I'm missing something, is there another way to tether over Bluetooth (no cable please) with a PC?

Could you use any of these free proxy servers to set up pulse rather than pay 5 bucks a month or have a computer on all day?!?

Having trouble with this and connecting from my Windows PC.

Bluetooth link: online

But then when it tries the connection, it instantly brings back an "error 692" and the bluetooth connection fails.

Any ideas?

Default Has anyone made this work with Windows?

Just curious if anyone has made this work with an 8700C and Windows combination. I am also getting an Error 692 message with no connection. I would be very interested in making this work. Anyone?
