There is a GMail app for BB. However, you don't need it. Many people like it, though. I use GMail too but just set it up through BIS (setup internet email icon) and it works great. You don't have to "check" your email. It will just show up on your device automatically. You'll get a copy of your sent emails back as an incoming mail but just follow the instructions in this sticky by Pizzle to stop that problem:

Smile Forword a copy to ***@*****.blackberry.net

I Setup a BIS address (I'm with Rogers so its *****@rogers.blackberry.net)and just forward a copy of my incoming Gmail to it (done with in the Gmail settings) then in the BIS acct settings I change the reply to address to my Gmail address. This way I don't get a copy of the sent mess. and it looks like it came from my Gmail address. It works slick.

I like GMAIL because it gives me a separate INBOX for my personal messages -- including those really private ones from my better half. It keeps those kinds of emails away from the regular BlackBerry Inbox, while still allowing me to access another completely separate Inbox on my BlackBerry.

I do have three GMAIL accounts. Two of those forward to my BlackBerry, while I use the GMAIL app for the third Inbox.

This is probably for another thread since it's not necessarily GMail specific but.....
I like the forwarding method as well, but then I never could figure out what do you do with this dilema. If you leave copies of the email on the Gmail mailbox then you have to go in and delete them to keep your inbox at a reasonable size. If you have them automatically delete from the mailbox after forwarding then you can't go back later to print them , if necessary, from your pc or another pc when traveling.

When you use BIS, you can choose which ones stay on the mailbox and which ones go. True, you don't get read reconciles but it's better than nothing.

Each way has it's pros and cons....just dropping in my $.02.

Mark,
Your way of keeping your personal emails separate is a pretty good idea. I hadn't really found a good use for the GMail app until your post. Thanks!

That's the only advantage Yahoo has over Gmail. I wonder what's taking them so long to get that feature.

I use it to mark messages read, or to report something as spam.
