Ok this is a strange one,

i use the contacts in my outlook express so they stay up to date.

then suddenly my sms messages would not recognise the number! it came up as the international e.g. +447980707087 so i thought that was strange so i entered the international version into the phone and then the next sms was fine it came in and came up with the sms ID e.g. Katie.

but then when i received a call from Katie on the same number it came up with the normal number e.g. 07980707087 without the international part? and it did not receognise the number!

i'm confused, the only way i have got around it is to enter the international version under other numbers in the contacts?

Go to your call log (i.e. where it lists inbound/outbound calls)
Click the pearl
Go to Options
Select "Smart Dialling"
Ensure the country code is set to +44,
Save and exit.

Should be problem solved..

I store all my contacts in +44 format as this means that if you're texting whilst abroad, you don't have to manually fiddle with the number.

Thank guys, I was having the same problem last week with my new Pearl and was about to copy all my numbers so they'd be in both formats. Saved me a lot of time.
