8300 Processor

I wonder what it will be. While I would not go back to the 8700 from the 8800 (due to built in GPS and form factor), I do think the 8800 is underpowered at this point. Wonder if there are improvements coming.

My Predictions:
Intel Xscale processor.
This thing doesn't have 3G, right? As long as it doesn't have W-CDMA then it's going to use the Intel processor.
How is the intel processor underpowered?

I think wha he means is that: Either the 8800 is laggy for the OS, or that in comparrison 312MHz is slow compared to other PDAs.
But in either case, The 8800 is laggy because of an "unrounded" operating system that needs a few patches to smooth everything out. And as for actual speed versus other devicec, 312MHz is sot of the sweet spot for performance to battery life.

Yes I mean its laggy. It lags in a number of areas that I am not fond of. For example hitting F for profile. When pulling it out of the holster, white screen shows at first. etc

i think it will be the same processor...i couldnt find that chart that listed features of 8800 and 8820 which i believe this model is a version of.
4xxmhz will be in the 9000 for now we deal with 312mhz

I would expect to see the same Intel processor as the Pearl, 8800 and 8700. It certainly seems to have some life in it yet.

I hope it's not "laggy"...I upgraded my 8700 to an 8800...and returned it after just 1 day. I really WANTED to like the 8800, but for the amount that I use the phone, I could tell after just 8 hours that it was too "slow" for me. And lord help you if you receive a call while typing an email, adding a calendar event, etc...it took a few seconds to actually answer the call!
I'd love a newer blackberry...just for the fact that I love new gadgets (don't we all!). But when it came right down to it, I use the phone for email and phone calls, as well as managing my schedule, and the bells and whistles of the 8800 just weren't enough to make up for the slower response time.
Now...if the 8300 is as fast as the 8700...I'm sure I'll be one of the first in line to get one! Nothing more exciting then a new blackberry...

I just went back to my 8700 after several months with a Nokia E61. Couldn't take the sluggishness even though the E61 with its insane slew of features wipes the BB off the map (including the 8800), but no point comparing apples to oranges, they are 2 different devices. I will not upgrade to the 8800 because it really seems to be a temporary bridge solution between the past and the future, but the 8300 is getting interesting. My theory is, a year from now we'll start getting some really interesting devices on the market; until then, I'm keeping the 8700.

Odd - I've never had lag issues with my 8700 or 8800. The current processor really does need to be upgraded though as it's definitely a bottleneck when it comes to rendering web pages. Until they replace it there's no point in adding 3G to the BB except for tethering.

TAKESHI...
Are you using your 8800 a lot? I'm on mine ALL day long between email and calls, and I found it to be really slow. I'm curious if I may have had a bad one or something, but it wasn't just a little thing...I could tell a HUGE difference between that on my 8700. After going back to my 8700 yesterday, I realized just how much faster things were opening, less lag time (when I opened Advanced Options/Applications, it said "No Applications found" for 2 seconds before they would load).
The main thing that bugged me was how slow it took to answer a call when I was using it for something else (email, adding a todo, etc...). That was very noticable...

No doubt but the features have outweighed this for me. I am not giving it up, but I do wish it did not lag.

That was my dilema...love the phone...hated the lag...lol! Do you think they'll fix this with an update or patch? I was 8 months short of my upgrade date, but Cingular was nice enough to sell it to me at the upgrade price. When I returned it, they switched me back so it shows that I can still upgrade now.
Of course (being that I'm on the 8300 thread)...I could just see if the 8300 is any faster or not...
At least know I know...if I didn't buy it, I'd still be wishing I did!
