Question 8703e Verizon and Sametime

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new BES user with a 8703e from Verizon. The Sametime app has been pushed to the device from the BES server. Verified in the BES Manager and on the device via Settings\Advanced\Applications.

Problem, on the device there is no icon to launch the application. There is no "Enterprise Messaging" selection from the Messages menu.

Also, this device has no IM/chat apps from AOL, Yahoo, MSN or IRC normally provided by the other carriers.

The Sametime app works fine on all devices from t-mobile, cingular etc.

BES Server 4.1.1
Domino 6.5.5

Thanks-Jeff

Never trust Blackberry Manager client; it is the crappiest app I ever worked with. Try looking into the POLC log and grep the PIN number for this 8703e and see if there is any errors. Your BES is not really very updated (BES4.1.1) and your 8703e is quite new device. You are probably running into some error like this:-

Device info for hardwareID 0x84000b03 could not be found.

See either this article:-

Article Title: Cannot push applications to a BlackBerry 8700, BlackBerry 8100, or BlackBerry 8800 over the wireless network (due to outdated device.xml)
Article Number: KB04693

Or this article:-
Article Title: Support - Cannot load applications wirelessly to BlackBerry 8703e and BlackBerry Pearl (due to outdated device.xml in BES 4.1 sp1 or earlier)
Article Number: KB05420
Link: Click here.

Thanks for the reply. It turned out to be a provisioning thing with Verizon. Once we found the correct support person they were able to push new verizon policy after which I pushed a new service book and it was fine after that.
