Default fastest way to get an email over to b-berry

Please Login to Remove!

I have been experimenting with gmail

which is a faster way to get the email over to my blackberry

setting up blackberry webclient to pop3 over to gmail

or
having gmail automatically forward emails to [email address]

I think the latter but would be interested if anyone has other experiences and if there are any disadvantages to second approach

I think they are either the same speed or nearly the same speed on my Pearl. Of course, it is easy to test. Gmail is supposed to have PUSH on BIS 2.x I believe.

Default gmail push on bis 2.x

with me the differences are major

if b-berry hits gmail as pop3 it takes a while

if I forward from gmail to b-berry it takes 1.5 minutes

also

when you say that gmail is supposed to have push on BIS 2.x I assume you mean that b-berry will check in with gmail as pop3 instantaneously and move email

1.5 minutes seems like an awful long time to receive your emails.

One of my favorite ways to show off the email power of blackberry's is to type an email then as soon as hit send i say"now i wll receive this email to my blackberry before i can finish this sentance" and sure enough i always do. ten seconds max it should take.

your blackberry.net email is the fastest then i find yahoo and gmail to be the same speed

I get gmail and yahoo instantly.

If you stay signed in to gmail/google, there is a history generated. I am quite sure that all search engines track a large amount of things.

If they are tracking google, why not Yahoo, Ask, etc.?

I think you should redo the BES activation. It will start over. Then go to bed and let it work over night!

Default google to blackberry

question for everyone who says they get google email on b-berry almost immeidately

is this based on a simple setup for google to forward to to [email address]

or is there a special setting that will allow google and blackberry to work more closely and allow for quicker delivery of email

I set mine up using the email settings icon on my BB. It takes you to the browser and you put in the gmail address and your password. It does the rest. Only bad thing is you need a filter on gmail so that when you send messages they don't show up on your device as a new incoming message too. You can search forums for gmail and there are some tips on setting up the filter. It worked for me and is faster than BES in many of my tests.
