Hi, my trackball doesn't click (it moves around fine)! I've had this handset for some months, and this has happened suddenly

By "click" i mean when you push it in, like a button, to select something!

I have read the other messages here and there and have:

- Done a hard reset numerous times
- Taken out the trackball, cleaned everything and put it back in
- Danced the Peruvian raindance etc

But nothing works! Also when messaging the alternate character key (used to get ! ? etc) is temperamental, and mostly doesn't work.

As I bought the handset on Ebay I can't just return it for a replacement, so any ideas? I really like the Pearl otherwise, but am thinking maybe I should get a Palm Treo 750v, install the Blackberry Connect software and be done with it....

Hmm, I was afraid of my trackball doing this as Ive heard stories with the sidekick doing that. That is why i press ENTER on most everything that requires trackball selection. Its alot simpler and takes stress off your trackball.

I have the EXACT same problem (minus the character key).

Since there haven't been any replies to this thread, I assume this is a relatively small problem.

Here are my concerns (someone, please address them! Thanks!):

1. I believe it is still covered under warranty (1 year limited, factory warranty) and I should be able to receive a replacement from the vendor (tmobile) or the manufacturer (RIM).

2. I have "unofficial" (another vendor's) firmware on it. Does this "void" my warranty with t-mobile? It shouldn't void the warranty with RIM, though, right? Should I look into "downgrading" before pursuing a warranty claim?

I am having the same issue. My trackball works but doesnt "click". I dont know if my phone has an "enter button" as I dont see it. I have a 8830 from Sprint. Please let me know what you guys have done, if anything, to fix this. Thank you sooo much.
