Gutted - RIM please listen and act now!
Please Login to Remove!
I just acquired my Curve, after reviewing the entire market for a PDA/phone. My last PDA was an old Dell Axim with a Windows operating system. Great in its time but now a bit prehistoric. The Curve seemed to have everything I was looking for (well except for GPS and wi-fi, but I took a deep breath as otherwise it appeared to be such a great product). Naturally, on acquiring my Curve and beginning to use it I was walking on air - what a great product, UNTIL ...
... a reminder appeared.
The SNOOZE function is rubbish !!
How can a business-orientated product (let's face it, all of the boys in the City have one) not have a snooze function that enables you to select how long you want it to snooze for, i.e. enabling you to select a different period for each reminder, not just one period that applies to all reminders. Frankly I am just devastated. I got this product to improve my "getting things done", and now I'm stuck with this stupid snooze system.
Please, please, please, please make a patch and post it where I can get it soon.
Otherwise great product, but it just takes one silly glitch to spoil it. It has for me anyway ...

I appreciate the concept, but this doesn't fit it (not for me, anyway). If I can click on remind me again in 4 hours, 8 hours, 1 day, 2 days...2 weeks, I'll do it for over and over until the task is OBE. My goal (at least I try) is to set a reminder when a reminder is valid and means something. If I can't do it immediately when the reminder activates, then the point is to reach a stopping point and take care of it ASAP, thus the 30 minute snooze. (Of course, that's me, and I tend to find fitting my habits to the BB improves my behavior. Your mileage may vary.)

First, RIM doesn't run this site. If you feel that this needs the dire attention that you suggest, try

From one procratenator (not sure if the spelling is correct, I will look up the word later) to another: dude, it's not the app/Blackberry that is broken.
The first step is admitting you have a problem.
How many times do you hit snooze on your alarm clock in the morning? I'm guessing its not just once.
Having the ability to change the snooze length is more of a nice to have, but if you're feeling is that this is critical.....you're in denile.

You must return it immediately so as not to continue having a ruined life. Grab the Axim out of the trash.

Um....ok. Sorry to hear the snooze function ruined your Blackberry experience. Maybe the multi-alarm function from mobylo would help.....

I think the poster has a fair point. You guys are so protective of the Blackberry brand that you sometimes forget your manners.
Blackberry ain't perfect, and a simple calendar program like the one Microsoft has should be in a Blackberry. Is it enough reason to give up on Blackberry? For me? No. But for someone who is used to a good alarm, snooze program, it's understandable and rude insults are useless on this forum.
Flame away......

I think one of the issues here was the tone of the original post. The sky is not falling because the snooze alarm doesn't fit one person's needs. Plenty of us are extremely critical of RIM, but we don't make a federal case out of it.
Perhaps if the OP had asked if there was a better alarm application available, there would have been more helpful, less sarcastic posts.
Someone may have even suggested Mobylo! Blackberry Mobile Application Software Handheld PDA

No flames, and I didn't flame the OP. This we-did-it-different-where-I-come-from stuff pushes my buttons. I happen to think there are reasons RIM does things the way they do when others see the same as a shortcoming or bad design. This is one of those cases. So, you say we are quick to defend the blackberry brand; I see people quick to blame the blackberry when it comes down to nothing more than an issue of what they were used to with their previous device. Ooooohhhhh, my blackberry doesn't automatically change the time when I change time zones. I can't believe such a sophisticated device doesn't to this! My Nokia did it! .... I always hate to see this when others write it, but there's a point where you have to say, maybe a blackberry isn't right for you (the generic you, of course).

it's all good, remember, it's easy to misinterpret on the net. The lack of body language, tone etc makes it difficult at times, and not everyone can express themselves as well as they might in person.

I assume you're talking about the reminder feature on the task app. You'll find the BlackBerry's default PIM apps pretty lacking. Just as you found the default PIMs on the Windows Mobile devices pretty lacking. todoMatrix and ideaMatrix are two excellent programs that allow you to set the snooze on tasks to whatever your heart desires.

It was originally posted in another forum; up for grabs.
