I just did the opposite... while I liked the gps of the 8800, I hated the build quality - the side rails squeaked and were loose, the battery cover was loose.

I came form a long line of BBs... 7100 - 8700 - 8800 - now 8100.

I was thinking of the new curve, but its a little pricey yet, so I got the pearl.

I like it... pretty much identical to the 8800 in terms of operation, but the pearl feels better to me. and the smaller size is better too.

Would you care to elaborate on what these "many issues" you were having with the 8100 that the 8800 fixed? Aside from the obvious differences, they should be pretty similar in operation.

Just curious.

I did but not because of issues, just because I was inquisitive. I like the 8800 but have to honest, I don't like carrying around a bigger device after having a Pearl. I'll probably keep it for business or vacation trips but the Pearl is staying as my main device. It fits nicely in my pocket and can do most everything the 8800 can. With the Pearl 2 coming, WiFi will be mine!!!!

The are/see and to a lesser extent age/she annoys me as well. It gets a little better because of context learning, but "you are" and "you see" are both in the same context.

There's no way around this problem with SureType, but it's necessary if you want a smaller phone.

I'm waiting on the pearl2/komet to come out.

AT&T will offer them in the US somewhere around September, if I remember correctly.

And even then, unless I suddenly start making a lot more money, I'll probably wait a year or so. My pearl is less than 3 months old right now, I'm mostly happy with it, and buying a newer phone would be a bit too much too soon right now.

I was thinking the same thing, but I've considered selling my Pearl before the Pearl2 release and the inevitible drop in the market price of the Pearl.

8800 feels "junky". i was gonna make the move 2 it - but after 3 days with it - i hated it so much.... the keys are small and way 2 close 2 eachother... and no camera.... did i say it feels junky?
and u need a PHD in nuclear science to open the door in the back....
Curve is REAL nice.... but the 8100 is small and fits nicely in your pocket... ill get 2.0 when it comes out in Oct...

i totally agree with them the term "junky" pretty muchs sums it up. I had he 8800 for a week and disliked the size of the phone. The pearl is very nice and compact but the curve to me feels like a kids fake toy phone because it is bigger and more spaced keys. Also i personally LOVE the pearls camera because i carry my phone everywhere and its nice to have a decent camera with me at all times. Not to metion I had issues with the curves scroll balll gettting stuck
