Default Can’t send MMS, I get a red x

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8300 on the AT&T (formally Cingular) network. Every time I try to send an MMS message I get a red x in the email window alerting me that the message was not sent.

What can I do to fix this?

Ken

Do you have a Blackberry data plan? Are you on BIS or BES?

Yes I have a data plan, all other data features work with no problem. I'm on a corporate BES.

Most likely there is an IT policy preventing MMS messages.

go to options -> security options -> general settings then look for IT policy and see if there is anything listed there

What always works for me is removing the battery, after a fresh reboot it seems to work.

I tried that. I've never been able to send an MMS message. Everything else works fine.

Yep, usually its the size of the picture. Drop the quality to medium and it works just fine.

yes, this is an unfortunate flaw from Cingular/AT&T, you have to drop the size down to medium and make the setting to fine, totally lame. I called AT&T about it and they said they are not changing it for a while. Imagine, them selling a phone with all these great features and you cant even use them. Good ol AT&T

The picture size could be a problem, but here is what I did to fix the problem.

Delete the MMS Transport and the MMS Client by going to:

Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Service Books >Highlight service to delete > Menu > Delete.

Then go back one screen to Advanced Options:

Select Host Routing Table, Press Menu, select Register Now.

This will resend all the service books to your BB (this can take a couple minutes).

Another good step to take is to remove the battery for at least 30 seconds, this is like rebooting your computer and you won't lose any data.

Once I did that, I have been golden. As long as the pic has been under 300kb.

Let me know if this helps you out!
