Default Typing contact name from home screen

Please Login to Remove!

Another basic question (and I have tried to search as well): I want to call a contact by typing the initial of the name from the home screen - but the initial is the alternate letter on the keypad? For instance, the contact name is Roger. But somehow I can't get to the alternate letter at all. I've tried:
- pressing it for a while: it prompts me whether I want to assign a speed dial
- simultaneously pressing ALT and the keypad: doesn't work

Also a second question: does BB Pearl store PIM data on the device? Is it possible to store them on the micro SD card? How do I set the data to be stored on the micro SD card?

Many thanks again.

I don't know of a way to pull up the alternate letter first but when pressing the key it should bring up a list containing both letters. Then you would just have to scroll through and hit send...

Correct when doing a search by pressing the first letter it will bring up both contacts for those letters.

Hi,
All you have to do to be able to dial right from the Home Screen, within the Phone application, choose Options and then make sure “Dial from Home screen” is set to “Yes”.
Cheers,
Rob

Is this just an O2 option? Because I cannot find that anywhere on my phone.

Rob - I can't see to find "Dial from Home Screen"?

I know that pressing a keypad will bring up contacts from both letters but it'd be nice and save a scroll down (especially if the first letter brings up long list) if I could get to the 2nd letter right away.

Cheers.

The 8100 does not HAVE the option to Disable Dialing From Home Screen. None of the Suretype keyboard models have it.

You can not get to the address book directly from the home screen of the 8100 (or any Suretype device).

Press and hold the green key to bring up the address book.

On the Pearl, from the home screen, you can simply begin typing the name of the contact (first or last-Suretype will kick in here and it will know what you're looking for) and it will narrow down the options. The more of the name you type, the more it will narrow down.

If this isn't working then reboot the device. As stated above, there is no option to turn this on or off on the Pearl, it just works.
