Default TrackMyJourney

Please Login to Remove!

Well, I've been trying to find the best solution that comes as close as Reperion web based tracking software for my Pocket PC Phone, but for my 8800. And eventhough BlackBerry Web base Tracker is in good progress, I'm still trying out the latter. Mologogo has some bugs when it comes to the 8800, it would all of a sudden stop sending data, and would not auto-connect. Same with Blackberry Tracker by xoclipse, it has nothing to do with the program itself, but with the Data Connection itself.

So my journey continues to find the best solution. I have come across trackmyjourney.com and you can download their BB 8800 version from here. You must register first.
TrackMyJourney

After doing an extensive research on what else is out there, I have tried several ones for my BB from this page: Free GPS Software - An Up-to-Date List. Though some works, some somewhat works and some just don't work at all, probably because it's just not made for the 8800. But for other BlackBerry, maybe it would work. So try those in that web page, or try trackmyjourney, either way, it would be great for the community to learn something from all these people who made such progress from something that is not easy.

Thanks, good listing, I look forward to taking time to go over it.

For now, I don't see BBTracker listed, free, from this thread. An excellent GPS app.

I agree, I'm still using Blackberry Tracker (Formerly known as BBTracker by xoclipse). It's still a great program, and the progress has been great.

Try the link for the 8800. Link

Maybe that will work? Otherwise I have to email the guy, they have pretty good support. The software for 8800 is still in Beta.

I just sent them an e-mail asking if they support OS 4.1 and internal GPS.

This is the reply I got back from the developer:

I've only had brief access to a BlackBerry 8800, and so its difficult to test it on other models.

However, I've just downloaded the BlackBerry 7100i emulator - I've been able to get it to install but the emulator then gives an out-of-memory error, so it might be that the phone doesn't have enough memory to run the program

No luck with my 8800 and this app. It just sits there and cannot get anything form the GPS. Clock runs but nothing else. And at the same time i have both bbtrackers working and tracking.

I have no problem with it and the developer states that the display of how many satellites don't show.

This is the response I got when I asked him about the bugs I found.

- Unfortunately the BB8800 doesn't provide the full satellite information so
the HDOP/VDOP readings and Satellite gauge will always be blank - I'll
probably remove them from the BB version in the future.

- At the moment you'll need to set the Enable Upload each time the program
is started - I'll see about making this an 'Always On' option in a future
version.

- The web-site will automatically timeout if a new page is not loaded after
an hour. To get around this just refresh the page every so often to prevent
it from reaching the timeout period. If you are viewing it with Google Earth
keep the website running alongside it and refresh it occasionally.

It is amazing, but the thing that I don't like is that the page timed out and I have a dedicated monitor to track my kids around and if it times out, I have to get up, login again and so on.

And blackberry tracker by xoclipse is really great. One day it will blow everything else out of the water.

i agree with powercx, bbtracker by xoclipse is the way to go. This one seems to be meant for other devices and is at best only half working. I cant get the thing to work at all, runs and the only options i find when i hit menu is close.

Default Track My Journey with BB8800

I do not appear to be transferring data to the server. I have entered the TMJ Device Code and Password and believe everything is enabled. I am using T-Mobile and have the APN set to wap.voicestream.com.

I am showing the following error in the Event Log:

Err: Bad Request @ WFLD

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Dueling blackberry tracker apps! I love it!

TMJ is working for me better than anything else so far. I'm also a fan of xoclipse. But this app seems to be able to coexist with telenav, it seems to offer gpx export (for photo geocoding). But it's not a native java app, so it's a little clunky.

Very encouraging development.
