RARE item. I can find very little about this item. It\'s very heavy, over 40 lb and just assume that it doesn\'t work or it needs work. Might be a cool prop for a movie or a museum.
It might have been an early device used ultrasonically to scan brains.
I found a document online that uses the words echoencephalography and echograms.
With Siemens apparatus, system Krautkrämer type USM1, the echograms are obtained and photographed with a polaroid camera. The diameter of the skull can be measured with a pelvimeter or with the ultrasound transmissionmethod. The topography of the probe of which the echograms are made, is specifically recorded.
