OS: 9000 5.0.0.1626 / 5.0.0.900 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1626 (Multilanguage)
This will load to any carrier's 9000 by following the instructions below.

Package Version: 5.0.0.1626
Consisting of:
* Applications: 5.0.0.900
* Software Platform: 5.2.0.89
* File name: 9000M_PBr5.0.0_rel1626_PL5.2.0.89_A5.0.0.900_Roger s_Wireless_Inc.exe
* File size: 126.02MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download here

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Seems like a good OS to me. Shrank down to less than 50mb and went on easy, memory steady so far. Too early to comment on battery.

Weird issue with this release on one of our 9000's:

Loaded it. Went to AppWorld to install the latest version of BBM. Download hung half way. Went to turn off the WiFi and the device rebooted.

When the device came back up, opened AppWorld Again, then went to disable the WiFi.... The device rebooted.

When the device came back up, I disabled the WiFi, then opened AppWorld. No reboot this time. But AppWorld was still acting wonky.

Hit RIM's website, grabbed the latest version (not included in this release, IIRC, it is a 1.1xxx version in this release) and the phone wanted to reboot. I let it. And then AppWorld worked fine and the WiFi issue was gone as well. I could use AppWorld and then disable/enable the WiFi without it rebooting.

VERY strange!

Hello everyones and happy new year !!

I meet exactly the same problem as "fineas.ro".

Today, i've try to install v5.0 on my two new Bold : Desktop Manager and Apploader don't want to let me install this version (i've a little star in front of the OS v5.0 on my list of OS versions), and they tell me that i've to go on Blackberry/service.

I what i don't undestand is that i have already install this version on 2 others Bold (with my same SIM card) !!

What happen ? Why it's ok for some devices and not for others (all are unloked) ?

Anyone could help me and explain me this problem ? Thanks a lot !

Re: OS: 9000 5.0.0.1626 / 5.0.0.900 (Multilanguage)

Of course i did it !
In fact, i have a lot of BB from all series, so i know very well how to work with JL_Cmder, Desktop Manager and Loader.exe.
I meet thsi problem just on some Bold 9000 and some Curve 8520, but not for all of them !!!
I think about a problem of registration of the device (some of them are registrated, some of them aren't), but i don't know how to pass throught this restriction.

I had to ask, that's all ;)

As far as making it work:

Use BBSK to wipe the device. You should then be able to load the new OS on it.

Hey everyone,

I want to install the OS 9000 5.0.0.1626 but I have a MacBook and when I download it, it doesn't open and nothing will install. Is there a version I can download that is compatible with Macs?

Thank you!

Re: OS: 9000 5.0.0.1626 / 5.0.0.900 (Multilanguage)

Noob here. Running OS 4.60 on BB 9000.

This is not working for me. Something is missing in my understanding of this process.

Have been able to download and install the file. I can see and delete: c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\vendor.xml

Although I am running Windows 7, I don't see anything like "Compatibility files" to click on.

I run the loader, it finds my BB but then what????
I have a list of applications already installed on my BB. If I click Add... I can navigate to a bunch of .alx files in :\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files\ but none of them seems to be an OS package. If I run them they all tell me they are incompatible with my device.

What am I missing?
Thanks

Since installing the latest OS...my bb is not working. I am getting the "uncaught exception" error, and I cannot reinstall the OS. When clicking on the email icons, nothing happens. I have tried deleting apps, but to no avail.

Is there a way to downgrade to the previous OS?

If I completely wipe my BB, will I lose everything? Inclding BBM contacts and emails?

boldover :-(

Yes there is a way. Search the FAQ for "downgrade".

You will only lose what you have *not* backed up already.

Good day, I was not sure If I had this version already so I downlaoed it again and the loader tells me I have a newer version. When I look at the About screen I see

v5.0.0.1067 (Bundle 1728, Platform 5.2.0.89)

Am I seeing something wrong here, the 1626 should be a new release for me is it not?

BTW - I ma on Rogers so vender.xml should not be an issue.

Hi

I have tried several times to download this OS to my Bold 9000 but only get as far as a window "Device Application Selection" where one is asked to choose an application to be installed or removed. There is an "Add" button but what to add, that's my problem.

Where do I go from here?

I am currently running v4.6.0.126 (Platform 4.0.0.135)

Thanks
