This is a new thread regarding Beta OS versions. For earlier discussion, please refer to this thread:

***Please note: Many of these are UNRELEASED OS versions so just because they're listed here does NOT necessarily mean they are available anywhere for download. So, there's no need to ask in this thread. We've tried to keep this thread clean for only updates and such related to that initial post.

I found a reference to it earlier today. Downloaded it this evening and am installing it now. More later!

OK! I was able to install it by uninstalling the older beta from my PC and running AppLoader within Desktop Manager. It installed onto the phone over the previous installation (not really the cleanest way to do this, esp to regain memory) and kept my ringtones. I called my number and my assigned ringtone rang.

JR

Update as of 12/16/2008:

I've discovered, and confirmed others' reports, that the video play capability is broken. The files will start to play then stop with an error message.

I am also having a heck of a time with memory bleed. For a while, I have sufficient memory for all functions to operate smoothly - then, blam, the phone freezes and I have to watch the spinning hourglass before I can do anything else, including dialing a call or receiving a call.

I see a new beta version is available and will find it and see if it fixes these problems.

Is it possible to be more specific about the OS versions??

For e.g.
GSM (8000 series): 4.5.0.134
CDMA (8x30 series): 4.5.0.101

The above mentioned categories are very broad. Both Curve and Pearl series come under the banner. However, we have device specific OS versions clearly mentioned for Bold, Javelin and Storm. I understand that it will make the post lengthier but I think it will be worth it.

raja_3012 11-16-2008 01:18 PM

The idea is to have versions for :-

Pearl 8100: 4.x.y.zzzz
Pearl 8110: 4.x.y.zzzz
Pearl 8120: 4.x.y.zzzz
Pearl 8130: 4.x.y.zzzz

Curve 8300: 4.a.b.ccc
Curve 8310: 4.a.b.ccc
Curve 8320: 4.a.b.ccc
Curve 8330: 4.a.b.ccc

pcwilliams 11-16-2008 09:46 PM

Has anyone been able to find application version 4.5.0.101 for the 8130? I can only find application version 4.5.0.97. The package version 4.5.0.101, which contains application version 4.5.0.77, is the released version by several vendors, but I'm unable to find the application version 4.5.0.101.

John Clark 11-16-2008 09:50 PM

AFAIK, it was only released to partners for the 8830.

JSanders 11-16-2008 11:20 PM

Well, that is what we have in this thread here for the released versions.

This thread is to keep up with the beta OS version from intelligence we gather here and there.

No this is pointless. Betas are made for all devices. If theres a beta for the 8130 theres the same for the 8830. Just because it's not out doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Same thing for GSM devices.

John Clark 11-17-2008 10:45 AM

Exactly. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It just means they didn't yet release it to partners. Once it gets released there, it'll leak to the internet. Seems someone with that access leaks it almost immediatly.

JS, thanks for putting up a new beta release sticky to replace the one jibi had to remove.

So, I see that the latest released OS for the 8310 has just gone to 4.5.0.134 (package) and it contains apps version 4.5.0.99. But here you're really saying there is a beta 4.5.0.134 apps version? The latest I had heard was .102, so just curious as that seems like a large jump - we had .55, .69, .81, .93, .99 and .102 - and it seems like quite a coincidence to see .134 as both an apps and a package version in different releases (although certainly not impossible.) If this is true, what's the package version of the .134 apps release?

JSanders 11-17-2008 05:41 PM

Thank you for pointing out my mistype there.

Corrected, and back to .102. I put .134 in by mistake.

gorip96 11-17-2008 08:54 PM

javelin's using OS version 4.7.x.x ??

kewl ...

JSanders 11-17-2008 09:42 PM

Nope! 4.6.1.75

You must be seeing things! ;-)

Just to avoid confusion, can the heading in the post be changed? Instead of "CDMA (8x30 series)", can you please change to "CDMA (8830 Series)"? Some folks (like myself) thought that it applied to the 8130 as well. The only beta version I've seen for the CDMA 8130 is 4.5.0.97

jibi 11-23-2008 12:03 PM

If you'd treat this thread like 'faith' - materialization is not a requirement for existence - then you'd be much better off. The OS wasn't released to partners for the 8130 and 8330? Does that mean it's not around? No. The fact of the matter is that they are already using versions higher than .101 for all three CDMA devices (and yes, .101 did exist for the 8130 and 8330).

coldconfession13 11-23-2008 01:17 PM

so jibi has RIM finished with .102 with 8xxx devices?

well, if that's the case then change the heading to display the hgher versions.

jibi 11-24-2008 07:08 PM

yep, i agree.

carsmovies 11-25-2008 09:43 AM

Somehow I doubt that 190 is still the latest beta Os for the bold especially since it's not even beta anymore.

JSanders 11-25-2008 09:52 AM

Yep, I agree.

corybarwick 11-25-2008 12:52 PM

So, is .101 (apps version) out for CDMA 8330 or are we still at .97? Just a little confused at this point I guess.

baltee 11-25-2008 04:18 PM

itchin for a new beta too, now that 190 is official.... :)

coldconfession13 11-26-2008 09:46 AM

Javelin should be listed as 4.6.1.76 according to someone in the 8900 forum that there curve was shipped with

hotburnttoast 11-27-2008 12:53 AM

Just a question, what happened to Jibi's thread like this, and why did it change?

jibi 11-27-2008 07:33 PM

The other thread was no longer going to be updated, so this one was started by forum leadership.

JSanders 11-27-2008 07:56 PM

Wirelessly posted (8310; RammerJammer!)

I restarted the thread because I didn't want BBF to lose the information. I am willing to update the OP as I become aware of it. As always, Jibi's contribution to the forum is invaluable.

Updated with:

.110 for 8xxx
.194 for 9000
.95 for 8900
.75 for 95xx

Calvin413 11-28-2008 06:18 PM

Are you sure about the .110 or is it a typo?

John Clark 11-28-2008 06:20 PM

Yep, though I've only seen it for 8110, 8120, 8320 and 8820.

.75 for the 9500 is no longer in beta as it has been released from Verizon on 11/28/08 (y)

hotburnttoast 11-29-2008 02:02 PM

The hunt begins for .110 for my 8320

John Clark 11-29-2008 02:04 PM

It's not yet on the Verizon download site. It may work through a web update, though. I don't have a Storm to test.

John Clark 11-29-2008 10:05 PM

Remember folks, it's against forum policy to ask for or provide links to unreleased RIM software on the forum.

Storm (9500/9530): 4.7.0.76

kjjb0204 12-02-2008 10:59 AM

Can anyone confirm if it's .101 or .102 for the 8330? I've seen a few threads here and elsewhere stating both. I know it's .102 for the GSM curve and .101 for the 8830, so now I'm confused. Just wanted to confirm before I go in search of....

Thanks!

John Clark 12-02-2008 11:18 AM

It's .101 but I've not seen it out there for the 8330. I'm sure that RIM has newer versions internally now but haven't confirmed any.

kjjb0204 12-02-2008 04:37 PM

Gotcha, thanks. Of course, making it that much harder to find is that the package version on apps .77 is .101. I've seen a few posts of people saying they have it, but haven't seen myself.

jibi 12-02-2008 07:12 PM

Anyone know the package version for the apps .101 version on 8330? Searching on .101 for the 8330 just returns tons of hits for .101 package/.77 apps version. Maybe I'm just a search dummy....

John Clark 12-11-2008 05:59 PM

app version 101 is package 138

Now, there's always package 162 apps 117 for cdma

Sorry, no beta links allowed.

Myst420 12-16-2008 12:59 PM

I was wondering if someone could just confirm for me that there is a *.117 out in the wild. I'm not asking for a link by any means, just confirmation that what I'm looking for actually exists.

If you can't find it in places they regularly show up at, or on Google, then it's not "in the wild". But people need to know that just because it's not "in the wild" doesn't mean that some people have it, or that it doesn't exist. That said, I haven't seen anyone who's not supposed to have .117 have it.

I am not asking for any links or filenames, I'm just asking if it was out in the wild. I know the rules and I do respect them.

DallasFlier 12-17-2008 05:11 PM

Hey JSanders, is it still appropriate in your opening post, to list 4.5.0.110 as the latest unreleased version, when its now been released by AT&T for most of the 8000 models?

And is there no known GSM beta beyond .110? If so, that seems to be a clear signal that 4.5 must be pretty stable with not much more work happening on it at this point.

jibi 12-17-2008 07:52 PM

4.7.0.82 - 9530
4.7.0.83 - 9500
4.6.1.114 - 8900
4.6.1.53 - 8350i
4.6.0.213 - 8220

HungrySage 12-18-2008 12:21 PM

Hey Sanders, I have a tip for this thread. It does get annoying trying to find a new OS especially if it isn't in the wild. I was just wondering if you can make the updates into two sections: one for the latest; one for the latest in the wild. What do you think?

JSanders 12-18-2008 12:26 PM

I don't think most of the time. Normally my fingers just act.

Good idea, but we already have that function for the Beta section threads... nothing wrong with posting a thread over there as so many already do... or joining one already posted.

In the form of others who have done so... "4.8.0.707 for the 9050, who's got it?"
Aren't those always so much fun?

Let's keep this thread clean of those questions. This is simply just the latest "known" OS release... and you know, some releases never make it past RIM's front door (or back door, as it is).

Just because the Beta is out, doesn't mean that it has been 'leaked' yet. If you looked in the usual places and can't find it, then it probably hasn't found it's way out into 'the wild' yet.

Nice to see CDMA moving up; GSM still moving quickly. Still, nothing new in the wild for the 8x30 since the .101's release.

Is anybody running .101 on an 8330? I still can't find it out there.

4.7.0.86 is only for the 9500 and not the 9530 (Verizon) right?

John Clark 01-08-2009 12:23 PM

It's for 9500 AND 9530

pkasin 01-08-2009 12:26 PM

Has anyone located it in the "wild" in English?

I just upgraded to 4.7.0.88 today, but I'm not having charging issues. Device says it's charging but it's not :(
I guess I have to downgrade back to .86, and I was liking .88

pkasin 01-17-2009 01:36 PM

I have tried searching for 4.7.0.88... can't find it...

Was it in the wild?

Can you give some other points of difference to earlier versions? I'm on .86 now, and have most of the same issues as .85.

Bold (9000): 4.6.0.226 isn't out there.

I find the newer devices having more updates as compared to the old devices. I guess it is high time that we see something different for the 8K series... meaning a newer release build like 4.6.x.xxx and not just bug fixes in 4.5.0.xxx.

Mods.. any idea why we would not have have 4.6.x.xxx for the pristine 8K series. There has been whispers that OS 5.0 might be out in the wild around May '09 but I do not see any traction in that way.

JSanders 01-20-2009 11:54 AM

It has been discussed that OS 5.0 will be the next major jump for the 8xxx devices. Unlikely you'll see 4.6 for that series.
