Are saved messages saved on BES
 

Dear All,

i have an urgent to task to try to retrieve saved messages from the BES for a user. Are these messages stored on the BES or just on the handheld device?

They are saved by the automatic OTA backup, so if you change your device and activate, you should have them back. I don't know of a way to retrieve them directly.

thanks for the reply. The new blackberry device cant be activated with the profile on the BES. I want to delete the account and create a new one. This will delete the saved messages. Is there a way to get them in any readable format on the server before removing the account?

If you mean sms no, unless you forward them all as an email msg. Email messages will be still in your mailbox anyway.
You can also do backup and selective restore. Or switch device using Desktop manager... whatever works for you.

Dear Sir,

thank you again for your reply. The situation is as follows:

the old blackberry device has saved emails on it that were deleted from outlook. This device was formated because it has a problem and cant recieve emails.

he has a new Blackberry device that i tried to activate but didnt work and gave always time out while trying to contact the server.

The only solution i have now is to delete the account on BES and recreate it, but this will remove all the settings including the saved messages (emails)

I need to find a way to get the saved messages out of the BES in a text file (or any format) before removing the user and recreating him...

That's not possible.

Why do you feel you need to delete the user from BES and re-add them?

because the activation of the new blackberry stuck at 11% and doesnt continue

Don't delete the user from BES. It will probably not solve your problem, but it will definitely delete all saved e-mails, settings etc.

Try to find out why it is hanging at 11%. Most probably one of the many items on the screen can't be completed and this holds up the whole process.
