As ndub33 says, don't cheap out on the SD card unless you don't care much about the content.
I'm a photographer and have seen data loss many times with non-brand name cards or cards purchased from eBay that were counterfeit. Search photography forums like DPReview for more info. You’ll find an amazing number of posts about data loss due to off-brands or counterfeits.
If all you're using the card for is occasional storage or you have a backup of all your data, you can risk getting a cheap card. Otherwise, go with Sandisk, Lexar, etc.
It’s just not worth it otherwise.
