It's probably because mobile YouTube serves up the files using the RTSP (real time streaming protocol), whereas mobile YouPorn is serving them up over straight HTTP.

Both are valid 3GP formats, but it's the way they're served up to the mobile browser. The BlackBerry is pretty shoddy in detecting file types properly, so most likely the use of RTPS negates their shortcomings with HTTP delivery.

What's the final word on this? I just upgraded my unlocked 8310 (with T-Mobile service) to 4.5 and Youtube is not working. If not having WIFI isn't the problem than what is? How can Youtube work for some 8310 users and not others?

If you want to you can use tinytube.net it has all videos from all of them websites and its format is for mobile phones.
