Now I know the abuse that most people who've found BB's and want to ask questions get on this forum and I can assure you I'm no thief but I found a Pearl while walking home last night, there was no SIM card and therefore no way of finding the owner (in my view). I put my O2 SIM card inside and it worked for a bit, recieving texts and making calls, then it suddenly lost all signal and reverted to SOS status and there is a message on the main screen just below the date reading 'Phone not allowed MM6', does this mean that the owner has blocked the phone or is it a different problem? And if it has been blocked does that mean I could contact the owner to return it?

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Sex Machine)

Do the right thing. Call the carrier and ask if they have this phone in their database. If they do ask where you can return it. If it was stolen and then dumped, that would be why it's blocked. If they don't have a good answer or don't care, see if they can register it to your SIM. Do your "good samaritan" due diligence. If they tell you they want it back you get a couple extra karma points. If they tell you to keep it, you get the karma and a phone. Be sure to check with the various carriers that sell that phone first. Ya never know though, so do the right thing. It could be you some day in that situation.

Cheers!

My Grandmother used to always say, "Nobody leaves this earth without paying their bills." Not only was she a terrific woman but full of sage advice as well. What goes around does come around. Do the right thing and you will be repaid in spades......

Carrier is the mobile phone service provider, like Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.

Most of the time there will be a carrier branding somewhere on the front of the decive, like a logo that says O2 or Verizon or Vodafone, check if it says anywhere.

There are definitely more ways then just relying on the SIM. In addition to calling the carrier with the IMEI or ESN you can check the phone book, look for ICE contacts, check the owner information page, etc etc. Until you've at least tried all that you can't say that there's no way of finding the owner.

...you indicate that you put your "O2" sim card in, and you're asking what a carrier is?
