I just purchased the new 8330 with verizon. It came with 4.3 and I need to know if it is compatible with the 4.5 software which verizon has'nt offered yet but is availible?

Yes, the 4.5 software that is 'in the wild' that is specific for the 8330 will work on your device. However, you may have to deal with bugs as the software isn't yet ready for prime time.

Google it. You'll find it. You are not allowed to ask for/post links to beta software on this site. 'Tis verboten by the powers that be!

Be careful what you get though because I found and downloaded it and it has run quite flawlessly on my 8330 but my buddy who bought his 8330 at the same time had a few more problems than I, such as not being able to run a bunch of third party apps (google maps and some others) and some other small but irritating issues.

There were some icky bugs in the earlier releases, like 4.5.0.33...yuck.

4.5.0.66 is the latest I have heard about.

Thanks a lot! Another newbie question. I upgraded my to "8330uEFS_PBr4.3.0_rel203_PL3.1.0.73_A4.3.0.127_Sp rint.exe" without removing the Vendor.xml file. Everything went fine. What's the purpose of removing the file before upgrade? My hope is to display Chinese on mine, such SMS and email. Any suggestions?

Yeah, we both dl'd and installed .51 (74) and yet had fairly different user experiences. We're running the same phones with the same hardware, on the same network with the same OSs so I couldn't understand why. He rolled his OS back before we could get a chance to hang and compare notes.

On my PC do I have to "uninstall" 4.5.0.51 first and then intstall 4.5.0.66 or can I just install 4.5.0.66 over it..

And what implications does that have for documents to go... I am currently using the 30 free premium upgrade

You can just install the new version over the top. Once installed, you will need to go into c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\8300_4.5.0.66.......\ and delete the DocsToGo.alx file, are it will downgrade your docs to go.
