Ok, first, I don't have a 8320. So it makes no difference to me either way. 2nd the point was, that although the topic wasn't posted on this particular forum, one of it's members made a topic on another asking if it even existed. I was simply trying to confirm it did. Once again, I refer to my first statement, in which I said "iI don't have a 8320. So this isn't my picture, and I don't have it. Period.

lol thanks John, pure coincidence

Maybe, generally speaking -
Docs2Go was installed and running on my device each time since .18 -
after initial java.io.IOExceptions (or http 1.0/1.1 issue) which resulted
in several failed TCP connection attempts; now TCP connects of 3rd party
apps are established properly -

its totally weird, but seems fixed atm

It is (now that I sorted my HTML email issue..).

One app that doesn't appear to work with this build so far is PocketInformant for BB - really nice app, but won't sync/take data from .69.

Ok wierd issue here.. Found .69 this morning and installed it on my Curve no problem..
However, I wasnt even thinking as I was sneaking it in on my work PC while doing other stuff... And I didnt go through and clear out the memory/remove themes/PTT/etc..
And I also didnt even remember to delete the Vendor.xml file..

However it all installed fine and is working as it should.. Whats the deal with the vendor file? Should I be on the lookout for any issues? Go back to .55 and re-update to .69? Or do you think itll all be ok?

The vendor.xml file is an on/off switch. If it's installed, the OS won't load. If it's removed (or empty in this case) the OS will install. It doesn't have anything to do with what is specifically loaded to the device.

Most of the leaked versions have been versions direct from RIM to carriers. Those are designed to be loaded on any device and have empty vendor.xml files. When the carriers release them they then add vendor.xml files with the appropriate data.

Well, almost two full days with .69 and I noticed the following:
- Very good battery life, GPS locking speed, signal (better than previous ones)
- Still suffering from moderate memory leak
- Bbmessenger STILL asks to update the PIN almost every time I reboot (c'mon RIM, that must not be so hard to solve - you've done the hardest part)

Overall I'm in love with this OS.

Man I just - and I mean JUST - loaded the previous version! ARRGH!

Its been a long time since I posted, and MUCH MUCH LONGER since I used a BB Device let alone troubleshooted one (January last TS'd, August 2007 Owned the Pearl last date). So I'm all NUBE again. I'm now on a work CURVE :D - I still don't understand how SOOO many ppl love the keypad I've got tiny hands and I cannot stand it!

Curious ... can anyone copy information from OS 4.2xxx vendor.xml file to the vendor.xml file for OS 4.5.0xx to have certain vendor pre-installed apps get loaded?

I had OS 4.5.0.xx (.83 I think) installed and it had the (DemoLine) Rogers apps pre-loaded but BBMaps, Docs2Go (icon yet nothing within it) - although listed in the Applications in Advanced Options - its nowhere to be found in the ribbon??

Once again...the vendor.xml file has NOTHING to do with what is loaded to the device. The vendor.xml file ONLY tells Desktop Manager whether or not to load the OS to a particular brand of device.

The vendor code (found in alt + rt shift + H) is what tells the Desktop Manager/OS what files to load and how to load them. That's why even if you load an AT&T released OS onto a Rogers device that the Rogers themes will load, not the AT&T themes. The vendor code is hard coded to the device and cannot be changed.

WB.

Copying from the vendor file to vendor file won't work. What apps is it you need?
see this for editing the cod files to move apps back on to the device that removing the vendor file might keep from loading...
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html

If they are listed in Applications, they should be installed... are they hidden?
Main Screen > Menu > Show all. Or in an applications folder?

Are you on .69? or .52 like your profile says? I haven't seen this issue on .55 or .69. I'd say do a wipe and reload.

I've managed to exercise restraint and watch all the frequent beta releases go by, without installing any of them until .69 now. A few observations from my just completed install:
  • "Seems" faster and more responsive than 4.2
  • More free memory with same config - yeay!
  • Telenav was listed as an "unrecognized application" during the backup, it wouldn't backup or restore it - had to do a fresh OTA install
  • Empower mail viewer (slightly downrev) showed as installed after the upgrade, but wasn't appearing in the mail view, and couldn't select Empower Options - fresh install/upgrade OTA and it now appears to be working great with the latest available version
  • LOVE the look and feel of 4.5, but...
  • Sound volume seems lower across the board here - only negative I haven't been able to solve - from ringtone to voice prompts on Telenav to alert tones on incoming email and SMS - volume is low on everything
