Default How to get email with redirector? I'm lost.

Please Login to Remove!

I used search and spend a few hours trying to figure this out myself but couldn't do it.

I use outlook to get my email on my laptop and was wondering if I can forward these emails using redirector (and reply). I am using verizon and have the unlimited data plan. Now I can setup my email directly using the online function on the phone itself, but my email account is real picky about ports and some other stuff, and that can't be configured as far as I can tell.

I just want to leave a program running 24/7 on my laptop and have it forward emails to my phone. I have no idea how to do this though. I have the Desktop Manager installed, BB Desktop Redirector, Outlook and 8830 with unlimited data plan.

I'm just really lost, can someone give me a guide that is clear with step by step on how to do this. Or even maybe recommend another program?

I noticed it says active device none, to the far right, the other one says server status online and the other has my pin. The redirector just says no pin.

I used the login at bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw and you pretty much can't do nothing in terms of pop settings and ports.

My email settings are:

@sbcglobal.net
pop.att.yahoo.com
smtp.att.yahoo.com
outgoing requires authtenication
incoming is 995
outgoing 465
requires sll encryption on port 465

Is BIS an option for you? That is much more reliable than running redirector, especially if you lose the connection on your laptop for any reason, you are without email until it comes back up. You can set up ports in BIS under the advanced tab if necessary.

Redirector is only certified to work with an Exchange e-mail account and the Outlook client. It will likely not work for you.

with the pop settings am I also able configure those settings I posted above? I can't seem to find anything in the advanced options. Sorry, just got the phone yesterday. :S

If not still interested in a guide of some sorts or some instructions. Would be really great.

Thanks in advance!

There are no configuration options. It only works with Exchange and not with POP e-mail.

Ah sorry, I mean config on BIS, dubdub said there was some advanced options to configure the pop, was hoping there was some port options too.

So what seems like a good option for me?

Hosted BES. You want 24/7 forwarding, with reconciliation, right? Do you need syncing of Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks?

Nah I just need the emails pretty much, though the other options would be cool, but not necessary.

That BES, how much extra is it? Can I just host my own, for free?

BES requires a server and software.

You should check out this thread - Methods of Receiving Email on BlackBerry - BlackBerryFAQ - that is part of the FAQ site at BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

If you need email only, you need to use BIS.

Once you log into BIS, edit each email account - the first screen is "General Settings". There should also be an "Advanced Settings" tab at the top. That is where you enter the incoming server and the port info, etc.
