BBSmart Alarms Pro v1.22 Beta Testing
Please Login to Remove!
Hi All,
I've just made available a beta v1.22 of BBSmart Alarms Pro for testing. The new feature list isn't massive since the primary aim of this release is to fix up the critical issues some 8330 and early OS 4.5 (.18, .37) users were experiencing (So if you're using an 8330 or early 4.5 release try it out and let me know how it goes!)
Changes/new features since v1.1 (last official release) include:
* Alarms no longer auto-snooze after one minute
* Fixed up dismiss & snooze bugs affecting 8330's & early OS 4.5 releases
* No longer crashes on startup with OS 4.5.0.37 devices
* Has significantly less impact on battery life
* Added in ability to pick color/style of each alarm
* Can now change the snooze time on-the-fly
* Other minor graphical tweaks
You can install over the top of v1.1 and all your existing alarms and settings should be preserved.
OTA link: http://www.blackberrysmart.com/ap122beta/BBSmartAlarmsPro.jad
Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
Thanks,
Neil.
Edit: Included a couple of pics so you can see the new functionality in action...

Hi Cyclops,
No, the Bold is not supported with this beta. RIM still haven't publicly made available the development tools for OS 4.6 (right now they only offer a beta). When they do, I'll get on it.
Cheers,
Neil.

Thanks Neil! This application kicks some major butt and was well worth the investment! Keep up the good work!
BTW I love the new ability to change the color of the alarms on the main screen.

Thanks for the update. Looking over the feature list, I see a feature was removed that I really liked:

Can I ask why this functionality was removed? I like this feature because my BB is password protected. I have my alarm set to sound once, and if I just let it go, I don't have to enter the password and I know it will sound again in X minutes.
Would it be possible to make this an option?
Thanks again. Love this app.

I had a different alarm app on my old pearl with a cool feature. Maybe you can incorporate a feature that follows all of the most common U.S. holidays that the alarm will not activate if you are doing a M-F reoccurring alarm and the ability to add a new holiday to the active list and make it remain silent or active for the holidays.

I was going to ask for exactly the same thing Neil. I'm sure I'm not alone in that it takes quite a lot to wake me. Having this as an option would definitely make the program more valuable to me.
As usual... great program... use it every day. Thx again Neil.

I had been using the 1.2.2 beta with OS v4.2.2.196, but I recently upgraded to OS v4.5.0.77. I believe that I just experienced the issue with the repeating alarm that some OS v4.3 and v4.5 users had reported with Alarms Pro 1.1. I dismissed the alarm, and the alarm sounded (actually vibrated) again a minute later -- the snooze was set at 45 minutes. The second dismiss worked normally. This has only occurred once since the OS upgrade (a day and a half).

I installed v. 1.22 and everything is great. Nice update, but I miss the auto-snooze after one minute. Is it possible to make this an option? I know some didn't like it, but I really like it.

eZainny-
Couple of things ...
(1) I am a registered user of version 1.1. I installed the beta over 1.1, and my existing alarms were not retained. If I had known this was a risk, I would have written them down prior to installing the beta. I have the 8100 Pearl if that helps to nail down this issue.
(2) Am I imagining things, or was there previously an option to override the selected BB profile? For example, if I had the BB set to "Quiet," I could still have BBSmart Alarms Pro set to a ring tone. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I could have sworn this was an option. Now, when my profile is set to "Quiet," the BBSmart alarms do not sound.
(3) Finally, I sometimes get error messages when unholstering my BB to snooze or dismiss an alarm. It happens about 20% of the time.

Neil,
I had a problem with V. 1.22 this morning. When the alarm started, I hit snooze, then before the snooze time was up, I hit Dismiss. The application locked up and the back button wouldn't close it. I could bring up other apps with application switcher, including the BBSmart Alarms main interface. I tried using Force Exit and nothing happened... it did not close the app. A battery pull fixed it, but this seems like a bug.
I'm a registered user, btw.

Neil,
A question/suggestion: The new colors/styles apply only to the alarms list and not to the alarm screen, right? If so, add similar color/style schemes for the alarm screen.
And a suggestion: Have Alarms Pro wake the BB up, like the BB Alarm app does. (Probably easier said than done.)
I also 2nd camaro322hp and DeanQ's suggestions above.
Still a very satisfied customer...

Hi All,
Thanks for all your feedback.
Regarding auto-snooze, I decided to remove this as I got inundated with emails from people who hated it, and up to that point had not heard from anybody who actually did like it. I won't be putting it back in for this next release since my aim is to get out a stable release as quick as possible for those affected 8330 & early 4.5 users, and I don't want to introduce any more functionality.
But I'll put it back in the release after this next one, as an option.
Thanks for the error reports visortgw, daphne, and GadgetGuru. I'll look in to those.
Cheers,
Neil.
