Just as I thought. I am lucky enough to have access to a couple of "Beta" Bolds. I think they're BES Beta Bolds at that. Oh well. Thanks for the reply anyway, off they go to RIM then.

Please help! Just bought a new unlocked Bold. I followed instructions at the top of this post and downloaded Desktop Manager 4.6.0.2. My device has v.6.0.126 on it and so I downloaded this latest OS and then deleted the Vendor file. But when I plug the blackberry in it synchronises as usual, it then says something like "checking for upgrades" but it doesnt install this latest version. Why??

Did you actually install the latest OS that you downloaded on your pc first?

Installation Attempt 1: FAILED - Fatal error was reported by Desktop Manager. It may have been an issue with the installation of DM. Rebooted system.

Installation Attempt 2: SUCCESSFUL - Record time too.

sorry for being completely thick! Can I just check. If I have the following on my phone:

v.4.6.0.126 (Platform 4.0.0.135)

Does that mean that I have this latest update installed??

I am using Orange UK, can I download the update link you got in the very first post that reads Vodafone Germany or it wont works, any problems in the future? Because in the BB Orange UK they havent updated the devices list, adding the Bold model and it is impossible to update my device. :S

I did succesfully upgraded it. Everything runs smoothly, but when I am tried to start a call, the phone restarts automatically. :S
Update: Actually, it automatically restarts every 15 seconts. Can anyone help?

Update2: you think the prob is that the update was from vodafone and i use orangE?

I don't think taking an update from another provider should be a problem. Can you try to switch off the mobile network (Manage Connections > Turn all connections off). If it then stays up stable try to switch to 2G only mode to see if 3G is the problem.
