Default Fake BES with BIS?

Please Login to Remove!

Here’s my story…

I just started a new job at my company and was told I would get a Blackberry, which I have used in the past. There is now a hold on all company cell phones and BBs because people have been abusing their mobiles and the bills coming in probably made the big guy mad. In the meantime, the company is still paying my bill.

Turns out I was eligible for an upgrade and decided to get myself the Curve to replace my 1G iPhone (I like it, but it just seems like a toy…). Since I don’t yet have approval to hop on the BES and need my email, I’m going to use BIS and try to manage until things get figured out.

Here’s my question: is there a way to use my gmail account and make it seem like I’m using my company’s email? I know I can send emails through gmail under my company's email address, but can I forward them from Outlook to my gmail without being the sender (i.e. redirecting emails?). That way I could reply from my BB from my company email address without it looking weird…

It would only be temporary anyway, but I do need access to my email ASAP.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Yes, it won't be perfectly transparent that you are using your gmail, but you can set the reply to reading in your BIS account settings to indicate from the work email, rather than the GMail account.

I think the best option would be to set up your work email directly in BIS if you can. Does the firm allow POB or IMAP access? If so, then it is much easier IMHO to do it that way.

Agree...if your company allows IMAP or OWA or POP access you can set up your work email account on your BB...

Try going to your BIS setup page and add your work email account (enter email and PW) and see if gets added...

In some cases (like my company) you have to request IMAP access via a web form first...

I work for a large company and they prohibit the mass forwarding of emails from the company servers. It all depends on your company's IT policies.

I concur with the others that the ideal manner to do this is via a direct POP or IMAP account rather than forwarding. My post above was simply to answer the question you asked.
