Default Bold and Hotmail

Please Login to Remove!

Im a new blackberry user and have just got a Bold.... wanted to check and find out the best method of syncing with my hotmail (@live.com) account.

Emails come in fine so no problems here.

I'm assuming you can do this somehow??

Live contacts - is there a way to sync with these??

Live calender - is there a way to sync with this??

Thanks in advance for your help

I thought I would get some response from someone describing how best to do it... perhaps it cannot be done or is much harder than I first thought??

If any of you gurus out there know how to sync hotmail (live) contacts with a blackberry please share

Thanks

I used to use MSN before I made the swith to Yahoo. The only conceivable way to make sync your items is if you have a premium account. If you have a premium account you can use the OUtlook MSN/HOTMAIL connector. Once you do that, all the Outlook calendar/contacts/other PIM data will be synced between Outlook and Hotmail.

Now syncing the BB is a little more tricky.

If your primary source of making calendar update and contact changes is the web interface (or Outlook) then you would have to open Outlook and allow it sync with the Hotmail server. Then you would have to copy all of the contacts and calendar appointment to your personal file folder. Then you could connect your BB and sync with DM.

If its the other way around you would first sync your BB to Outlook personal folders. Then delete all the MSN/HOTMAIL data. Wait for it to sync, and then copy in the data from your Personal files. Wish there was an easier way, but I do not believe there is.

That is why I switched to Yahoo. I sync when I am at work or home, I make changes to Yahoo and on my device and they both Sync perfectly.

If anyone knows a better way, I am all ears.

Hotmail will sync Outlook tasks, calendar, contacts and email on any account now. All you need is Outlook and the latest version of the Outlook connector.

Over the air it will only sync email. You have to hook the BB up to the machine via desktop manager to sync the rest.

I expect this will get better in the future, but for now that is how it works.

They have some software called Blackberry Unite that might help. I have not tried it though.

Didn't know it was available for free accounts too. However, even if Outlook syncs all PIM via the connector, Blackberry Desktop Manager will not allow you to choose the MSN set of files to sync with. It will only allow you to sync with Personal Folders. This is why the user has to manually copy data to and from the Connector folders and the Personal Folders.
