Default Email Setup Icon , please help

Please Login to Remove!

blackberryforums.com/general-8300-series-discussion-curve/134138-deleted-e-mail-setup-application

well i just got my Curve yesterday and i am having the same problems mentioned in the post upstairs, but the only difference is that i have AT&T instead of T-Mobile.

So far, i cannot run

1.Email setup
2.Yahoo Messenger

and i need both of those like crazy, the phone has been UNLOCKED and purchased on EBAY so i assume my problem is 100% similar to the post mentioned upstairs.

i did try the "wap.voicestream.com" under TCP that supposely fixed it for the gentlemen upstairs but so far it didnt do it for me. Maybe its a different WAP for AT&T? if so does nobody know?

thanks in advance, i really need to know how to make Yahoo and Email to work. Thanks

Welcome, see this FAQ article for WAP settings for at&t.

Do you have a BB Data plan? If so, call ATT and ask for BB support

No the cingular info works for at&t. Its what I use currently.

Can you explain what the issues are that you are having when you attempt to setup your email? Have you configured your BIS account? Are you using a mail app other than the Blackberry inbox? The more info you can give the quicker we can get you up and running.

@cctraderx: As many will back me up on, it is best to stay far far away from at&t-Blackberry support.

im staying away from BB support...i know better

ok, i got it unlocked from EBAY yesterday, by configuring your BIS you mean on att.blackberry.com? if so then i tried and it tells me "device has been registered with a different service provider" but that's BS because on the phone it clearly sais AT&T

i am not using any other mail app on the phone.

When i go under Setup Wizzard the only options i have is to setup email thru a enterprise server and skip email setup, i dont have the other options to configure a normal email account nor do i have the email setup icon on the menu.

also i do have yahoo messenger installed, but when i hit connect, it just sits there doing nothing, i even let it run for like 1 hour and it was still "connecting"

Basically, i dont have the personal email application loader...

thats where i am at.

Go to Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation
Does your status show as "Not Activated" or do you have a date/time there?

If you have something other than, "Not Activated" you are having issues due to an existing IT Policy. This thread will help you remove that:

If you are showing Not Activated then you do not need to wipe the phone.

If it were my phone, I would wipe the phone (don't worry wiping has no effect on the phone being unlocked), and start fresh. Then you know there is nothing on the phone that is causing the issue.

From there I would look at the carrier/account to make sure everything is setup properly for the phone to function on BIS, and transmit data.

Enterprise Activation links your phone to a BES. It also leads to IT Policies, IT Policies are rules put on your phone by the BES Admin, that restrict things that can be done on your phone.

Ok, the reason att.blackberry.com is showing that it has been registered to a different carrier is because it has. The previous owner already activated it with their carrier's BIS. You need to contact RIM and have them deleted the BIS activation for your device so that you can activate the BIS through AT&T.

It's not a BES issue. It's a previous BIS activation issue.

Sorry, Blackberry support. That's why the blackberry website thinks it's with a different carrier.

Only if the previous owner had it setup through AT&T. However, it's Blackberry (RIM) that has the BIS activation info. You can try going through AT&T to get the BIS reset, but if it were me, I would call RIM directly.
