Has anyone discovered if they have a hired a support person yet?

After reading the whole thread, SO is there a Garmin version which does not use Data connection for the maps and routing process but from preloaded maps in SD card? Is there such thing? Anyone can make a clear clarification on this?

No there is not. RIM has not opened up the MicroSD API's for such an application yet. I have not heard updates with the BOLD but it would have the horsepower and now the cards can be up to 32mb so maybe in time.

I'm in Canada, and was able to download it and run it on my Bold just fine.

The website won't let me buy it online, but it gave me a phone # to call:
"If you have a P.O. Box, APO or FPO address, please call 1-800-800-1020 or 913-397-8200 to place your order."

I did call and they referred me to Handango or Mobihand for Canadian sales. Handango has it for $99 USD. I sent them an email asking if they price match.
It's $79 now if bought from Garmin directly.

You could go through Handango, as I did. They now show a Bold compatible version, the screenshots look different than the 4.x version on my 8800, so I'm guessing it's the newest 5.x. I got mine through Handango when I was unable to purchase it from Garmin directly.

Is that working well with BB Bold? Can you config with your own Maps. I made a register on Garmin website to see where the maps available, but showing nothing.

This is my fist time to use Black Berry, and I have no IT skills

It's excellent on the Bold. Its as easy to use as my stand alone Nuvi 650 window unit.

Maps: its all over the air. On 3G, its fast. I've not had a chance to use it on EDGE speed. Yes, you can add favourites to a map. only North America is supported currently. Europe is in the works according to the Garmin site.

If you're a business person who travels or a city dweller on public transit, I doubt you can be without this app on the Bold.

$79 is more in the range of what I would expect to pay. $99 was too much in my mind.

handango only offers the older 4.xx which isn't worth the same price compared to the newer one.

has anyone in canada figured out how to buy the 5.xx version?

Strange. Garmin's website shows the Bold as a supported device. Maybe I am misunderstanding the trouble people are experiencing?
