Your profile indicates an 8830 with Verizon. Is that the phone you are trying to use a TMo SIM in?

Won't work in the US. Yes the 8830 is a world phone and can use SIMs, but the GSM function won't work in the US. Only outside this country.

As above, if the device is a Verizon 8830, then it is CDMA only in North America, meaning since it is a Verizon device, it can only work with Verizon in North America, Outside of NA, if the SIM is unlocked, you can use your T-Mo SIM, otherwise Verizon also offers a SIM for the GSM side.

The GSM frequencies are not compatible with US GSM freqs.

In order to use your SIM, you will need a Blackberry from T-Mo or an unlocked one from ATT or another GSM carrier.
