It means that your firewall is blocking outbound 3101 port or your internet is down or RIM is down or someone else installed another BES server with the same SRP keys that belongs to your BES server. If your internet connection is not an issue then call whoever you bought your BES from to confirm why it isn't connected.

4101? You sure? Go to Control Panel and open Blackberry Server configuration applet and there see if router uses 3101 or 4101? Make sure it is 3101. Test connection and if succesfull SRP should show connected.

On the BSC it does use 3101 and tested it with a success; but when connecting it uses Port 4101 just like Watchguard. I called Blackberry and they said Port 4101 can't be changed; My only option is to change that controld.exe to anothe port no. I don't know how to do that.

Read this and you may find your answer there. Not really familiar with Watchguard. Sorry I could not help more.

Thanks a lot for your replies. I appreciate it. I guess that's why they say BES should have its separate server I'll keep pulling my hair out. If you come across anything, please post it
Thanks,
Mirella

Is it one BB user type of the deal? Yes, you can use desktop redirector but then no wireless calendar, tasks, contacts or notes syncing, no GAL lookups, no attachment rendering, no wireless reconciliation. In addition to that you'd need to make sure your desktop stays on all the time and that you are logged onto it. You may try to install BES on vmware or even XP workstation.

that sounds horrible... He's not going to like that. I guess only emails will work? No synching?? Yikes.
So, I can install the BES on an XP PC? I just need to make sure its running all the time, that's all?

No it will work but just not wirelesly. Email will be redirected wirelesly as long as his workstation is turned on and he is logged onto it. Workstation can be locked though. If he reads an email message or reply and forward they will not be marked as such in Outlook unless he connect his berry with wire and sync. Yes, you can. It isn't supported but will work. And yes, unless any of these are not running all the time nothing will work.
Make sure you uninstall first BES before installation of BES on XP.
Out of curiosity their network is SBS2003 or something like that, isn't it?
