OK here is what I was told yesterday by o2 in UK.
The reaSON WHY THEY WILL NOT BE RELEASING THIER bold FOR A GOOD MONTH OR SO IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON LAUNCHING AND ADVERTISING THE IPHONE SO THEY ARE WAITING TO RECOUP THIER MONEY BEFORE THEY BUY LOTS MORE STOCK????
Whatever the reason don't really care as long as bugs are sorted when it does come out.
ALSO one of my contacts here in the UK has tested the THUNDER?STORM touchscreen and word is STICK TO THE BOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Later dudes of techno

If you want a Bold on CPW then you can do what I did and goto Carphone Warehouse and get it. It comes unlocked and unbranded as well.

Right, I got fed up of chasing O2 in their shops to get a release date and idea of costs so emailed their head office last week - got a phone call yesterday afternoon advising that it will be released on O2 Mon 29th September and available in the shops shortly after that but couldn't get price plan details.

I then tried Vodafone and no shops in central London appeared to have stocks earlier this week, but most advised that deliveries were due tomorrow (Friday).

Vodafone shops always seem to say they are getting them "tomorrow". I was chasing me local store for about a week and was told everyday that they would be in "tomorrow" but never were.

I am on O2 and got sick of waiting too. I bought an Orange Blackberry Bold yesterday on eBay - its been used for a few days only - got it for £270. I searched on here first and it says you can get them unlocked relatively cheaply - so if that works, I should be a lot better off than paying £400 to CPW. Fingers crossed!

Buddy of mine got hold of a bold on O2, but had some many crashes, he sent it back.

O2 acknowledge issues so accepted the return as alot of others experiencing similar issues

I am on Vodafone and my bold works fine!!!

If he got hold of one on "O2" then it is a pre-release beta testing model and used for the that very reason. Unless he's in a senior position within the company, he would not get one. The official launch of the Bold is early to mid October. Once O2 are happy with the product and software then it will be on sale to the general public.

Incidentally, this iphone talk is, quite frankly, rubbish.

Boldboy,

Well put it this way; that isn't possible as it's not even on the system in the UK yet. As I said, the only hand sets that have been released are to a selected few and are for beta testing and the official launch is next month.

Blackberry arrived today. Its already unlocked - so have it up and running on O2! The startup Blackberry Welcome message was dated from June, so perhaps it was a demo or trial one used by Orange? Either way, I've got it upgraded to the latest OS and am very happy with my new B'Berry!

Well - they're definitely coming next week. We're a SMB customer, so we might get any leftover devices.... if we're lucky!!

"Hi James

Thank you for your email.

The Blackberry bolds are due in next week however, these phones have been reserved for our corporate customers it maybe an idea to contact us next week to see if there are any that have not been ordered and we may be able to order them.

Kind regards

They have been released on O2. Their website is showing it as out of stock but if you give them a ring they might have a few. Dont forget that you can upgrade a month before your contract term ends.

Had mine from O2 since the day they arrived in store - 30th September. Upgraded to .167 and everything is working great. Usual issues with Youtube over the mobile network but running over WiFi is fine. Also downloaded the software that streams radio from all over the world, including some very interesting stations, via WiFi.
