I'm sorta new to the bb curve, just got about 2 weeks ago. Well to get to the point, I've used AIM fine since, until yesterday when I tried to sign on, it just stays at "Contacting AIM Service" Any idea whats going on?

ask me if you need more info or settings or something.

It could have just been during server maintainence time. Maybe someone (rim or aol) had address issues. Could be many things

I'm haveing the same problem. Mines says user name or password incorrect.it was fine until did a pull and when I tried to sign on is when it kept saying that. Well I deleted the aim app and went to the bb home page to download it again and they don't have aim up there. Anywhere I can go to download ota?

go to www.mobile.blackberry.com, Applications, Staying In Touch, At bottom you will see "Instant messaging for Blackberry Smartphones. Follow instructions Aim is there.

Anytime I use Mobile IM, the only people I see online are the cell phone contacts I have set up in AIM, I don't actually see AIM users. It was like this for both my 8100 and my new 8330. I'll still get a message if an AIM user sends it to me, it's just that the buddy list doesn't show correctly.

Mine shows my AIM contacts and anyone in my address book with an AOL email address, It shows me when a Buddy or Family signs on to AIM.

I'm not sure what AIM is...is that the "free" service for texting?

AIM in itself is a free service for texting between other AIM users or cell numbers. It's AOL Instant Messenger. Though, there are free AIM clients (which are pretty crappy imo) and there's some you pay for - one time fee. I use BeeJive.
