something else i noticed too. When i am in call log i can no longer just highlight a name or number and press enter to begin the call. I actually have to use the scroll wheel. then it brings up all those other options. I want to just hit enter and have it dial. is there somwhere i can change that or maybe this has been discussed and i missed it.

Hello Folks,

I need help, i did upgraded the OS on my 8700r before, I am on version v4.2.1.114 and I tried installing this latest version as well as other versions of 4.5 without any luck.

I backups everything and loads the new OS, as soon as it tries to restore my data after along half way through I see the hour glass screen disappears and I see white screen with Blackberry written on it and I get an error message saying "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE DEVICE" I am using DM 4.6

Please if anyone can help me and tell me what am I doing wrong here.

Thanks in advance.

I found of course after loading this OS version to like 15 8700's... That when you do a hard reset on some of these phones it cannot find the theme. And it fails to that weird wire frame theme. And you have to manually pick the dimension theme.

Now when I installed this OS I followed the directions and blew away all ATT themes. And when I configure all BB's I put them to a Dimension icon theme. But it seems even after all of that they still go to a wire frame when people are doing hard resets.

One oddity is I found if I set the them a second time it seems to hold after a hard reset.

Any ideas on why this is?

Default NEW OS software,

I loaded it, removed the file, as instructed but it doesn't prompt me to "upgrade" I have DM 4.6 and 4.2 on my phone. The application loader doesn't find the file, is there a way to move it somewhere where it can recognize it.

i uploaded to my 8700c that was unlocked and now it locked to att.

I was reading in this string you can go back to 4.1 but will it unlock the phone? Is there a link i can direct download it at i cant find one. Or something else i can do?

Or is there a Rim that is a standard Os i can use on the phone. I dont care for the att screen on my bb.

Kind of a newbie here.

Default Benefits

Hi folks
What is the benefit to "upgrading" to 4.5 ? I'm running 4.2.1.96 - Is 4.5 much larger? Does it run slower/faster? Besides Docs to Go, what are the new features? Thanks.

Default 4.5.x.x versus 4.2.x.x

I think that the greatest benefit to running 4.5.x.x versus 4.2.x.x is HTML e-mail. Assuming that your provider has upgraded to 2.5 if you are running BIS or that your company is running a recent SP on BES. DocsToGo is also nice, but I have limited reasons to use it.

Most everything else is the same, I think I have ran almost every single release of 4.5.x.x on two 8700s one a G and one a C. I haven't had any real issues and believe that it is much more stable and HTML e-mail and DocsToGo make the upgrade worthwhile.

Thanks for the insight dschonew. Do you happen to know the size of the 4.5 OS?
