Smile Can I use 8320 BB T-Mob w/ GoPhone Unlimited Data for $19.99 ?

Please Login to Remove!

I am working on unlocking my T-Mob Blackberry Curve 8320, and was wondering who thinks it might or who thinks it might not work, if I unlocked it and put a active AT&T GoPhone SIM in it with unlimited MediaNet/Data Usage, do you think I will be able to use 3rd party apps and etc? I don't care about UMA calling...What's your opinions?

Thanks

If you set TCP you should be able to get some third party applications to work.

Does anybody know what the TCP for AT&T is? example t-mobile I believe is wap.voicestream.com

I know I have a Nokia 6126 from ATT unlocked, I use it with T-Mobile ATT is MediaNet Tmobile is T-Zones, I had to have T-Mobile sent T-Zones settings to my phone, in blackberry is TCP all I should have to change once I pop at ATT SIM in?

besides prepay customers pay just as much if not more for the unlimited data then contract, so why cancel that service, they are probably making a killing off it....but of course that's just my opinion...
I hope they don't stop offering it!

Angry ATT GoPhone Droops Unlimited DATA on 11-12-2008

This is an absolute FACT. Effective November 12th, ATT will no longer be offering the $19.99 Unlimited DATA Add On. It has been a subject of discussion for some time now, They have sent SMS messages to users indicating this as well as discussing it in their own ATT Forums. It is GONE. You can only get it on the Pick Your Own Plans, but that has you paying $40 plus.

Here is an excerpt from Cell phone news, reviews, discussion: Wireless info from PhoneNews.com

AT&T to Discontinue Prepaid Unlimited GoPhone Data Access on November 12th
Written by Humberto Saabedra on October 4, 2008
"AT&T call center representatives in the GoPhone divison have confirmed to PhoneNews.com that the current $19.99 unlimited GoPhone data option on Pay As You Go service would be discontinued on November 12th, stating that the offering was meant as a trial exercise and that the company is exploring other options for prepaid data offerings.

Speculation and criticism abounded that the offering has led to abuse of network resources, and that many sites including PhoneNews.com encouraged people to drop more profitable data plans in order to take advantage of the much lower rate, compared to current rates offered as postpaid add-ons."

Here's another, albeit moot, question. If you had an unlocked BlackBerry, could you even use it under the old MEdiaNet plans? How would you access BIS in that instance?

That's crazy, Prepay customers pay more for service, you'd think they be glad to keep unlimited data on prepay since they are making good money on it...wtf....this is messed up i think...thats it for me lol gonna have to find someone else...too bad a bb on GSM wont work on CDMA network lol

Doesn't T-Mobile offer a BlackBerry data plan for $ 20/mo as well? Why even bother with GoPhone?

You wouldn't be able to access BIS. BIS does not equal an internet connection.

yes tmobile offers it too but you must be approved for a contract plan, and i had tmobile and i am sorry to say there service sucks, you may think you are getting good service but everywhere I went tmobile was using other networks, and as i am driving as soon as you get to a different area, it changes from att to tmobile on the alpha tag (and drops your call)... it loooks good on coverage maps but in reality it sucks....a bit off topic tho, GoPhone from ATT is prepaid thats why I was asking cause I canceled T-Mobile due to the reason above, and many more..

That's not T-Mobile sucking (overall), that's you not doing your research as to what the service is like in your area before signing up with a carrier. That's why they have the 30 day trial period.

I have T-mobile pick your plan with unlimited BB data and love it, no contract to sign month to month. You have to buy a phone at retail price to start the plan ( I bought the cheapest piece of crap could find on there) then I bought two brand new Curves off craigslist and have been rocking ever since. I use the data plan all day with google maps, searching the web and messaging my wife and friends.
