I have an 8820 purchased from Orange in the UK (at the time I couldnt buy Wi-fi in Canada). I'm currently using on Rogers but without BIS access. The device is only used for development.
Recently I upgraded the OS to 4.5 and lost all maps features. Google Maps starts and hangs. BB Maps doesnt even display an icon though it is listed in the Applications settings.
I assume no IT Policy is present (is there a way to find out) therefore all I can guess is that the map option is not available in the service book associated with Rogers - but was available in the one provided with the device from Orange.
GPS is active.
The Maps "Default Service" is set to none and there doesn't appear to be any way of setting the value.
Any suggestions. I'm in the middle of writing a GPS related app and will have to buy yet another BlackBerry (my fifth) if I can't get this working. That would be a shame since then I would have to buy a Bold or Storm.
Alternately a pointer in the direction of a document that describes how policies and service books work would be appreciated. Does this site have a section for such things?

Update: Ooops! When I updated the OS my APN settings were zapped.
Does this mean map tiles always arrive via the cellular network and not via Wi-fi?
