Question About BB Mesenger? How do I? ...

Please Login to Remove!

In BB Messenger, how can I request/add a contact to my contact list without going thru my address book list?
I have a couple of people don't necessarily want to have all their info, and I would just like to add them directly without creating them in the address book and going thru all the steps involved.
Is there a way to do this?

TIA!

You should be able to just type in the pin, but there seems to be problems if there is not contact info.

Type the PIN where?
Can you explain how/where?

I think when you go to the menu in messenger and select ADD CONTACT, there is a place to put the PIN.

Nope, sorry.
When I try to Add Contact, it automatically takes me to the Address Book.

Anyone else have any ideas?

TIA.

What OS are you using? When I go into BB Messenger and select Menu > Add Contact I can type either a name, email or pin. If I type a pin, BBM sends the request message but doesn't add this as a contact in my address book.

The best thing to do is create a contact in the address book, put the PIN in the contact -- there is a place for it. Then add the PIN to BB Messenger.

Thanks.
I've done it like this a couple of times, I just wanted to avoid that step, and I thought there would be a quicker route.

I hoped someone with more experience would be able to respond as to whether my ability to add a contact has something to do with my using OS 4.5 rather than 4.2 -- perhaps it is a feature that has been added in the newer OS?

Sorry I can't be more help but maybe a mod can respond to this.

It matters, because adding via PIN has been simplified in later OS versions.

Before, to add a person by PIN, you had to:

Be in your contact list, click the BB Key,
choose ADD A CONTACT,
Scroll up to the top, where it says USE ONCE, highlight that, click the BB key again, and choose ADD BY PIN.

It's a lot easier now.
