Default Is the gap between the screen and the casing a deal breaker for you?

I keep seeing this and that is the only thing that really bothers me. I can deal with the software lag because I know that will get fixed but I wonder what they'll do to fix the gap. Anyone else letting this bother you?

The gap isn't really larger than what it is on other devices. Also, there has to be a gap although I think they could have dressed it up better.

My view is: Gap is because this LCD is moving up and down. This is not a laser weapon, no need to be tight.
In my one all 4 gaps are max 2mm in sum.

Regards.

tbh, you won't notice the gap unless you're looking for it. i dont really notice it otherwise. but like someone else said in another thread, if rain feel into the gap, it would cause a problem =/ might get a skin for this

I've used the 9500 for a few months. I've also been in the rain and never had any rain get below the screen. I suppose if you were standing in a downpour and talking on the device you might have a problem. But if you don't plan on standing in the pouring rain while talking/typing, you'll be just fine.

I just wanted everyones opinion and am glad you all replied. I just ordered something similar to that invisible shield and might get some kind of silicon case like what I had with my curve. I usually keep my blackberry's in my pocket which is why the lint thing worried me a little. Sounds like if I have a case with it, I should be okay.

Wirelessly posted (Holy @%*^ I love grape soda!)

Dust would be my only issue, I've had problems with my curve and I would only hope that this. Would not be a factor on this one.

Why couldn't they have put some soft rubber between the phone and floating screen? It would prevent crap from getting under it, and still allow the screen to "float"

That's the $64,000 question! A little bit of rubber or silicone to seal the gap - no so it's 100% waterproof, but just enough to stop the odd bit off dust or the odd drop of water getting in there. The biggest issue seems to be that you can see the green PCB through the bottom gap. I would love to know why they didn't cover or discguise this...?

PCB = Printed Circuit Board - usually green with the printed circuit tracks and other components (chips, etc) mounted on the surface.

Do you hafto use a magnifying glass to see it, or is it clearly visible to the naked eye?

Looks good on the top, left, right... but the bottom is bigger than most phones I've used. I can't remember the last time I could see the phones internal components through the keypad either

Yeah I agree. Those shots are a tad misleading though. But no I definitely think it should have been dressed up a bit. But that pic is a tad misleading.

That space is going to be a problem! Even though it's not huge, it's still enough for dust to get into! Yes I know a lot of phones have spaces and creaks, however I agree with the person who said that it's been a while since I've been able to see the insides of a phone! But what can ya do, it won't be tight like the Bold, but I doubt that will stop people from giving it a try!
