Question Which should I buy?

Please Login to Remove!

Should I buy a Blackberry Bold, or an Iphone 3G?

They cost about the same, have about the same features...each has different pros and cons, but I'm still on the fence. I love blackberry, I just hate my present carrier, Verizon.

The question boils down to: Bold or Iphone? If you had this choice, which would you choose and why?

Check out the many threads in our "BlackBerry versus..." section. And remember, this being a BlackBerry forum, many of us might be a tad biased.

That's why I'm asking. I'm leaning heavily toward the bold for the software.

3 main reasons I'll never touch an iPhone:

1) No MMS

2) No expandable/interchangeable memory.

3) Cannot remove the battery.

On the App store, the apps aren't all that interesting to me. so it doesnt matter. I can sync podcasts to the Blackberry from my windows machine..so I don't need the Iphone's ability to DL podcasts.

Bold it is.

lets say you are going to a show tonight.....
> can't figure out where to eat? iPhone has an app where you can shake your phone and come up with a random restaurant selection
> you are at the random restaurant. Because you are mildly retarded and can't figure out how to calculate a 20% tip and split the bill 4 ways, you use another awesome iPhone app that will do that for you.
> you are at the show and the group plays their 1 famous ballad....your iPhone has a cool little lighter app you can hold up. And you can blow into the mic and see the flame flicker.

Seriously......i'm trying to figure out how I've made it this far in life without an iPhone....

Not to mention the fact that if you want to install a Navigation Program, you cannot on the IP, but you can on the Bold.......

Never underestimate the public's interest in a rousing round of douchebaggery!

Personally, I use copy/paste all the time. You can't on the iPhone.
Also, that virtual keyboard on the iPhone is a nightmare! It doesn't even operate in landscape mode. If it did, that might be something to mitigate the cramped design, but it doesn't do landscape for the keyboard.
Lastly, there are some apps on the Blackberry that are brilliant and have become a part of how I work. Rex Wireless makes some essential stuff for me.

If my focus was 90% music and videos, I'd have an iPhone. But my focus is professional grade communication. No contest: Blackberry.

Anybody remember the Anti-iPhone Page? The dude may love Nokia, but the iPhone hate is still pretty darn funny!

It looks like TeleNav is working on an iPhone variant

Not that I am suggesting that people buy the iPhone. I went from an iPhone (not 3G) to the bold and I don't regret not going to the iPhone 3G at all.

It just seems that for applications there appears to be an increasing parity as developers see markets in both the iphone and blackberry users.

The problem with the iPhone is that you have that one and only place to get apps.

That's one odd thing about the iPhone. They implemented features for some things, but not for others. For example, there was a keyboard that worked in landscape mode, but it was ONLY available for the web browser - you couldn't use it for anything else - so you couldn't use it to type a SMS or email, but you could to type a URL.

Other than that, I didn't mind the keyboard after getting used to it. I kinda liked it in some ways. The mistake corrector it has was pretty good too.j

This is my story Originally I didnt have money for an iphone(before 3g) so I figured I'd get the pearl until the iphone 3G will come out and by then ill have money. But, i just fell in love with blackberry so for me it was a no brainer. Its great how you can switch between applications kinda like alt-f4 in windows. So If im looking on a website, I can talk on the phone while writing a SMS message, 'alt-F4 to' the browser, copy the link i want to send someone, and paste it on the SMS and keep talking on the phone. its great. I think thats one of my favorite things
BTW: If youre into multimedia, movies, music, etc... the Iphone is probably the right choice.

i have a solution for you... GET BOTH... hahaha.. jk jk
coming from a iphone (1GEN) i found bold more of business use...
iphone crash on me at least 4 times a day.. and that is why i was sick of it...update the firmware and everything... no use.....
there is few things i like about iphone.. there is alot of games on it... it kills alot of my between classes time.... and there SMS is another thing i like about it.. cuz it keeps all the conversation from one contact to another compare to bold.....

things i dont like about iphone... everyone has one... crashes a lot.... email function sucks... no copy and paste.. and list goes on and on.... but i am keeping my iphone.. just in case i still wanna play with it... ^^

How can you even post this? The two 'phones' are about as opposite to one another as you can get. I understand that you may prefer one over the other, but seriously do you think that I have more insight into the uses of your phone than you would?

Blackberry is a communications device primarily with multimedia built in to minimal but usable spec, iPhone is a multimedia device with communications tacked on as an afterthought.

In My Honest Experience.
I have three phones in hand now, without being pretentious.
I was a pearl user.

Iphone 3g since Aug
bold since Sep (work)
storm since end Nov (work)

I use extensively bloomberg pro app and it only comes on blackberry, so 24/24 weekdays on bold.
bold - mail, sms, gps, bb mesenger
Iphone 3g - web browsing, music, video, NYT, games and facebook
mind you these are not interchangeable !!!
what I mean, for nothing I would browse the net with the bold with both in my pocket. I would never send an email with the iphone, less an sms etc..

last, the storm, I tried, but couldn't do nothing, you know I am above 40, so maybe not so patient.
ps; the iphone I have has never, ever, crashed
the bold crashed extensively with the 187 firmware, updated to 190 and no crash.
