Default So who's using the WBM?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm really considering setting up the web desktop manager just to ease the setup of each batch of BlackBerries. So I looking threw the documentation, but I was just curious how many of you out there are using this already and if you considered the setup worth it or not.

I know it's been out for a while now, so hopefully it's had time to settle in by now.

Exclamation Problematic base requirements

Hi,

We thought of setting it up, but the base requirements contain quite some problematic items:
  • ActiveX components (USB drivers etc.) require either administrative rights or rollout of the components to each user's desktop
  • No clear statement, if multiple domino domains are supported
  • Needs IIOP on at least one Domino server - IIOP has a very bad reputation here (hangs, memory leaks etc.) and is therefore disabled by default
  • Design can not be easily customized

So for the moment, we will not proceed with it ...

But it is worth to mention, that the ActiveX components might be usable in an own web application (backup/restore, switch device wizard, enterprise activation). The necessary trigger code (javascript) is contained in webdesktop.js and activex.js
I could post some examples if that would be of interest.

I'd like to add, that it's not Vista compatible.

Although I've not tested on whether it will work and it's jut not supported by RIM.
