Question Setup multiple BES Servers

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, everyone!

We're deploying a new BES Server in our company to support more users (not for disaster recovering) and would like to hear what some of you might be doing regarding the SQL database.

In a multiple BES setup should all servers point to a single SQL server? Or should each server connect to its own SQL Database?

What gives better performance? And ease of administration?

Cheers,

Andre

They should point all to the same sql server.. that way you can move users between BES servers if the change location and stuff like that. plus it it is less to administer.

andrezinh0,

Pointing all BES to the same config database would definitely be less work on the administrative side. This would also give you the ability to move users to the other BES if maintenance is needed on one of them. A remote database is definitely the way to go for performance as opposed to running it locally on the same box as the BES. As long as the SQL server hardware is sufficient, you shouldn't have any performance issues pointing all BES at the same config db.

Default The additional BES should not have MDS

Only one BES in the SQL database can be MDS.

I missed this the first time.

Where'd you get that information?
I have multiple BES on the same config DB and they all have their own MDS-CS instances.

Are you referring to MDS Services for app development/deployment... or MDS Connection Services?

Default When I built BES and pointed it to SQL...

It wouldn't let the second server create the MDSS and MDSS-DIS database's.

OK, those are MDS Services databases for application development and deployment.

Not the same as MDS-CS.

You and I are referring to two different things.
