bold screen question
Please Login to Remove!
hi all,
so i just got my brand new bold which is unreal but had a question about the screen.
i touched the screen and sort of pushed on it a little bit trying to get rid of an airbubble and the screen sort of went blurry (just the area that i pushed on) and then went back to normal. is that bad for the screen or is it totally normal? i mean i didn't push down as hard as i could i just pressed on it.
let me know.
thanks so much,
ashboy

mine does the same thing, actually all bolds i have seen do the same.. the lcd seems to be very sensitive to pressure, so you get the discoloration effect while applying pressure. but it also seems to handle it quite fine / return to normal when pressure is removed. i just wouldn't suggest slamming it into a desk corner or whatnot..

Someone also noticed that the screen is not as straight as it schould be?
The right corner above the buttons is a little bit higher then the left corner above the buttons...

I think the plastic/molded cover for the screen is a tad bit close to it and flexible. My curve does not do the same thing.

That's how they get the screen to look so "bold" (and how it got it's name). The LCD is as close to the surface as they could reasonably make it.

When I was applying a bodyguardz screen protector for the bold I used pressure to take out a few air bubbles while the device was off.I shouldn't have any problems at all should I as the device was off?

I was playing with a display model today at the AT&T store and noticed this effect when pressing the volume buttons on the side. It does the same thing as if you put your finger into a laptop screen. Maybe I can understand not pushing on the front of the screen (although my Curve doesn't have that problem), but that doesn't seem to solid of a build if it happens just by pressing the volume buttons?

All LCD screens do this! The reason why the Curve does not do this is because of the space between the screen, and the protective plastic screen! Plus the quality of the screens are apples and oranges, the Bold is straight up LCD quality, the curve is not.

That may be, I've already agreed you shouldn't push on the front of the screen just like how we've accepted not to this to a laptop. My problem is pressing the volume buttons on the side also gets this same affect. That's not acceptable. It should be built stronger than that. Over time, what is going to result from constant flexing of the LCD?

I'm now getting the same effect with my Curve 8900. I wonder what the long term effect of this is going to be?
