Default Tethering issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Thought id'e fiddle around with setting up tethering on my netbook today so it would be set up when I needed it. Followed the isntructions on the official bb site & managed to set up the connection np. Upon dialing the connection it connects & I can see the amounts of data packets being sent & recieved etc however Internet functionality is Zero. In other words I can't browse the internet (browser can't find page, check if you have an active internet connection), can't connect to msn etc. Called my carrier & they reset the settings so I would have the ability to tether and they instructed me to do a battery pull which I did but had no effect.

Any ideas? My modem config is set to: +cgdcont=1,"IP","blackberry.net" (apn instructed by my carrier) Im'e quite certain that all other settings are correct & I tried this on my desktop as well but still had the same problem..

Thanks!

I do not believe your APN is correct. I believe for Vodaphone it should be "Internet" with "web" as both the username and password

Sorry about that. My carrier isn't vodafone. Had set that up prior to buying the device. My carrier is local only basically but fully supports the BB Service lol :p

have you checked blackberryfaq.com? You will need the vodafone APN to get it working correctly.

Cool. Big thanks for looking it up. Wasn't awere it was out there :/

However if I were to use these settings ide pay the regular data tariff right? To use the BIS data package I have to use the BB APN right which my carrier quoted to me when I called (blackberry.net) wouldnt I?

I would think you'd go with the contract APN - gosurfing

blackberry.net AFAIK is not a valid APN.

Default curve 8310 tether

Trying to set up tether on a 8310, I can get to the point where I'm in the window and click "dial" and get the message "no dial tone"
