We have a sister company in the UK who is using BES 4.0. I am wondering if there is known issue for our us BB users to connect to their BES?

No as long as the BES-Email server link is a decent one (better at least 512kBps)

We have users in China who are on our BES here in the US (Michigan) - because their mailbox is on the Exchange server in Michigan. Works great.

What it really comes down to is the latency on the link between the BES and the messaging server where the user mailbox lives. RIM will tell you that anything more than 35ms will cause messaging delays, our experiences have shown that to be true. For best results always put the BES and the messaging server on the same LAN, and when that isn't possible, get as much bandwidth as you can.
