Default Am I screwed?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, my 8900 just showed the white screen of death, I tried taking out the battery, reload the apps, reload the os, downgrade os, upgrade os, and I even tried the JL_Cmdr reset to no avail.

From screen shots taken by the JL_Cmdr, the phone has booted up and showing the home screen and works perfectly except the screen is stuck on white blank. I even retrieved sms and email using screenshots as navigation help. It even takes calls.

Is my screen dead or can the phone be revived?

Thanks

Wow, nearly 2 years before your first post!

Was the device dropped? I am thinking the ribbon cable may have came loose internally and may need to be reseated.

I would exchange the device if it were me.

I was too busy on my bb before

It was squeezed between myself and a hardplace.

Exchanging it would be a little bit difficult, I bought it last year in Europe, it was one of the first launch units from T-Mo Germany with the qwertz keyboards. I am now back in Canada so exchanging would be a little bit difficult

Wirelessly posted (bb8320TMO)

Yup, what he ^ said. Get it repaired, and the folks at horizon are simply the best.

Yes indeed. The OP is showing a type of posting self-control that jsconyers can only dream of....

What is this "self-control" that you speak of, and where can I find it?

I second (or would it be third) going through Horizon for the repair.

What happens if you use JL_Cmdr to take a screenshot of the device? Does it show anything?

Most likely your screen will need to be replaced or repaired, might want to take a shot at taking it apart and see if it's something simple like a disconnected ribbon or something, but if you're not comfortable or it's beyond your repair I am going to endorse sending it to Horizon as well.

The phone is working perfectly behind the white blank screen, I navigate the phone using screen shots taken with JL_Cmdr.

Anyway it's a moot point now as I have already purchased a replacement 8900 today, I can't survive without a blackberry, even the round trip time to send the phone to horizon for repairs is too long for me. But I will probably send it in to have it fixed at a later date and use it as a backup phone in case the new one dies.

And yes a new one is expensive still but my company is footing the bill
