OK, looking to upgrade my 8830 World Edition BB. Carrier = Verizon (no switching carriers due to family plan & other considerations).
Configured a Bold for a client...brief interaction, loved the screen, liked the keyboard (similarity to my 8830), like the trackball (again, like the 8830).
I've briefly tried the Storm in a retail store and am nervous about how the keyboard is to live with. I moved to my 8830 partly due to HATING the combined keyboard on my old pearl (the guy who invented the combo keys should be mildly castrated). So, as far as I could tell the only keyboard on the Storm was using the combo keys though at least they followed the qwerty layout...did I miss something?
So, I'm not sure what to do. Buy the storm and possibly hate it and fight a return (3 days to cancel/reverse isn't a lot of time) or wait unknown amount of time for a bold on verizon. Anyone know solid release dates on that possibility?
I believe you have a thirty day trial period for the storm, not three. However, there is a $35 restocking fee if you decide that it's not for you.
The device is not for everyone. Just because one person doesn't like it doesn't mean you won't. You could always try it out see if it is or isn't the device for you. Only you will be able to decide that.
I have not heard any dates of the Bold coming to a CDMA carrier. It took the Curve ~12 months before it jumped to CDMA if that is an indication.
The Storm keyboard is full qwerty in landscape (when holding the storm sideways). Also, with the latest beta os, there is a full qwerty option in portrait mode as well, so you can choose from suretype (qwerty layout with two letters per key) or full qwerty. You have 30 days with Verizon to try it.
I don't think you can get the Bold with Verizon. Verizon has the Curve and the Storm but no Bold. Or you can get the 8830 World. I wish Verizon had the Bold, I would have got it instead of the Curve...but I must say...I LOVE MY CURVE.

Way to not read the beginning post! Duh! I already have an 8830. I like it but it would be nice to get some of the current multimedia features.
Niagara will be out in may basically a 3G evdo rev A version of the Javelin aka 8900 it will be labeled the 9000, if I didnt need a phone when I needed it I would have waited. It will be as fast as the bold but the size of the new 8900 "Curve" the best of all worlds
