I know a lot of people purchasing a BlackBerry without a plan often turn to eBay... Plenty have good experiences, but some of us aren't so lucky.

I was wondering if we could make a guide/thread to checking your "new" device once it arrives. What would you check for...? (Obviously this excludes the sealed box or sticker still on screen rules). Basically what to check for to ensure no one else has powered it own/used it, and that what was advertised as new really is new, not refurbished...or used.

Thanks, that's definitely good info to have on here! I did actually already browse that. It's just that sometimes eBay can be a "do as much research as you can, and then just hope for the best" kind of thing. Hopefully that makes sense...

You can go into the phone event logs (Alt + LGLG) and see if there is any activity prior to your purchase date. (Of course if someone really knows a BB then will know about the log and how to clear it).

Somewhere on this site, someone posted instructions on a hidden menu that tells you if the device has been used for 15 minutes or not.

I did a search, but couldn't find it....
